Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the South Western Air Command (SWAC), undertook an important sortie in a Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft at Air Force Station Lohegaon. Having dedicated over 35 years to military service since his commissioning in 1986, Air Marshal Kapoor’s sortie comes on the heels of the successful Operation Sindoor, which targeted cross-border terrorist infrastructure in a precision strike campaign. The agenda included a ceremonial inspection and a static display of the Su-30 MKI, a multirole twinjet aircraft developed by Russia’s Sukhoi and manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Notable for its ability to exceed speeds of Mach 2, the aircraft is outfitted with cutting-edge avionics, radar, and weapon systems, solidifying its status as a cornerstone of the IAF’s combat fleet.
