Sea Dragon 23, the third edition of the coordinated multilateral anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise for long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft, will feature Indian Navy P8I aircraft. According to a Navy statement, the exercise is hosted by the US Navy, and the P8I aircraft arrived in the US on March 14.
Exercise Sea Dragon 2023
The exercise, which is set to take place from March 15 to March 23, will focus on coordinated anti-submarine warfare among the participating countries. Over the years, the complexity and scope of these exercises have steadily increased to include advanced ASW drills.
Ex Sea Dragon 23 will put participating aircraft through their paces by tracking simulated and live underwater targets while also sharing mutual expertise. An Indian Navy P8I would participate in the exercise, as would a US Navy P8A, a Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force P1, a Royal Canadian Air Force CP 140, and a RoKN P3C. Last week, the Navy’s INS Sahyadri practiced in the Arabian Sea with the Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) ship JS Suzutsuki, an Akizuki Class Destroyer.
Significance of Ex-Sea Dragon 2023
The Exercise aims to achieve high levels of synergy and coordination among friendly navies, based on their shared values and commitment to an open, inclusive Indo-Pacific.
