Encounter With Terrorists: On Friday, three army personnel were killed in an encounter with terrorists while conducting a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area. According to army sources, the search degenerated into an engagement after terrorists opened fire on them, hurting three army personnel who later died as a result of their injuries.
3 Army Soldiers Killed In Encounter With Terrorists
According to a police official, security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in the higher reaches of the Halan forest area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir after receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists there.
Following the attack, security forces launched a huge search operation on Saturday to track out the perpetrators. It was also revealed that a terrorist stole four AK-47 rifles from the army men killed in the clash.

The Army’s Chinar Corps, stationed in Srinagar, tweeted, “Operation Halan #Kulgam.” On the basis of precise information indicating the presence of terrorists in the upper reaches of Halan in Kulgam, security forces commenced operations on August 4th. Three troops were injured and eventually died as a result of the exchange of fire with terrorists. The search is still going on.”
An official described how a search evolved into an engagement as militants hiding in the area fired at security officers, who replied in kind. Three security forces members were hurt during the fierce exchange of gunfire and died while receiving treatment.
The officials further stated that the group is suspected to have recently entered into Kashmir via the Pir Panjal mountain. They also stated that extra troops have been dispatched to the region and that the search has been stepped up.
Among those killed were At least ten army soldiers were killed in two separate attacks in J&K’s Poonch and Rajouri districts in April and May. Meanwhile, another search operation has been initiated in the Kund region of the district after a blast-like sound was heard there, according to officials. According to the army, vehicles travelling through the region heard the sound and halted to conduct a search. A police team was hurried to the scene after receiving the information, and further details were still needed, according to officials.
