Special Forces play a crucial role in neutralizing the terror threats and maintaining internal peace in the nation. As the name signifies, the force is specialized to respond to any terror threat and taking the required actions to avert it. As Indian armed forces have their own special forces like ParaSF, GARUD etc. MARCOS is a special force that is maintained by the Indian navy to handle emergency situations arising from various means. MARCOS Badge
The MARCOS Badge is given to people who pass their probation. It’s hard to get picked to become a MARCO in the first place. Almost 80% of applicants are turned away during the pre-training process, which includes a three-day physical fitness and skills test. And it gets worse. After this comes “hell’s week,” which lasts for five weeks and includes not getting enough sleep and intense physical training. Those who make it through or who don’t give up on their own go on to the real training.
Combat Diver Badge
The cadets start by learning the basics of diving and commando skills. Those who pass this phase are trained in every part and situation of modern warfare. This is followed by a year of training in specialised skills like close combat, including Krav Maga. The commandos go to the Naval Diving School in Kochi to learn how to dive for combat. There are plans to move the Naval Special Warfare Tactical Training Centre to Kerala, where it will focus on jungle warfare and operations against insurgencies. The new building will look like the CIJWS that the Indian Army has in Mizoram. It shows a soldier who knows how to dive, is fully equipped with a combat load, and is ready to do specialised operations underwater. As a diver, he has strength, endurance, and stamina. He also knows how to use different weapons, explosives, and equipment for special operations underwater and as a saboteur.
Navy SEAL Special Warfare badge
The Special Warfare insignia, also called the “SEAL Trident” or the “Budweiser Badge,” is given to people who have finished BUD/S training and qualification, have been named Navy SEALs, and are assigned to Navy SEAL Teams or SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) Teams. The insignia is the same for officers and enlisted people, and it is one of only three gold-colored insignia that enlisted people are allowed to wear on their chests.
