All the budding defence aspirants who wish to join the Indian Air Force right after their 12th standard gets completed have a plethora of ways to do so and don the blue uniform and protect the motherland. It’s a job that offers pride and numerous facilities. It is an responsibility that requires strong determination, willpower, physical and mental awareness, etc. Here are the available options to join the Indian Air Force after completing schooling till class 12.
NDA
One may begin their first step of getting into Indian Air Force as an officer by joining National Defence Academy which provides training for the triforces. It is infact the only way to join Air Force as an officer after class 12 and only unmarried candidates are allowed aged between 15.5 and 18.5. Student pursuing any field are allowed to sit for the exam but it entails questions from Mathematics, English and General Awareness so one should have it all prepared. Alteast 60% in 10+2 is a compulsory criterion for the exam.
NDA exam is held twice a year usually in the months of April and November and the application for the same is out two months prior. Those who pass the written exam give the SSB Interview and upon passing it they are made to join the prestigious Academy for a duration of three years where one completes their bachelors degree and the go for Air Force Academy to mainly join the Indian Air Force in the branch of their choice according to the criteria the fulfill.

Airmen Group X & Y
Candidates who completed their 12th standard from any board with science and mathematics cam join the Indian Air Force as Airmen in technical branch in Group X and non-technology is for Group Y.
Candidates are selected by a MCQ Based Test followed my physical test and medical test. Those who get selected are sent for training to Bangalore and thereafter to places according to their branches and further work of choice and capability.
Age limit is 21 years old. For Group X the educational qualification is atleast 50% in maths, physics, English in 12th standard and for group Y minimum of 50% in any stream.
