What did the CEO Say?

Rane was in Chennai to unveil the latest version of the indigenous BrahMos missile Checkout equipment manufactured by Data Patterns, an Indian private firm. In layman’s terms, the checkout equipment is a sophisticated machine capable of performing in-depth diagnostics on the operation of all critical electrical and electronic subsystems on board the missile. After a successful checkout, a missile is declared operational for use on the battlefield.

“The BrahMos missile is designed to last up to ten years. The Indian armed forces conduct an annual health check on the BrahMos missile to ensure it is in perfect working order “He elaborated. Simply put, the missile is connected to the checkout equipment and tests are performed in the same way that a gadget is connected to a computer.

When asked about the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war on the Indo-Russian BrahMos supply chain, Rane said that any ongoing geopolitical situation causes problems for any supply chain and that the pandemic had done the same. However, he added that these were minor stumbling blocks and that the Brahmos supply chain is robust. “We have a fantastic order book until 2027…. With a few new orders on the way, we’ll have an order book full until 2031 “He went on to say. BrahMos Aerospace is also developing a lighter version of the Brahmos missile, dubbed BrahMos NG (new generation); the missile is in development and could fly for the first time by the end of 2024, he said.
