In a groundbreaking achievement, the Border Security Force (BSF) marked a historic milestone with its first-ever all-women team successfully reaching the summit of Mount Everest. The expedition, part of the Mission Vande Mataram initiative, took place on May 21, 2026, when the team reached the world’s highest peak at an altitude of 8,848.86 meters around 8 AM IST.
The team consisted of four brave constables: Kouser Fatima from Ladakh, Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, Rabeka Singh from Uttarakhand, and Tsering Chorol from Kargil. Their successful ascent to the summit not only showcased their exceptional skills and determination but also highlighted a significant achievement for women in mountaineering within India.
As the country celebrated the BSF Diamond Jubilee Year, the diverse background of the Mahila Seema Praharis reflected the spirit of the initiative. The team expressed this spirit vibrantly, even under the challenging conditions at extreme altitudes, where oxygen levels are perilously low. In a powerful moment of unity and determination, they sang “Vande Mataram,” embodying values of courage, patriotism, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of Nari Shakti.
This accomplishment is not just a testament to the prowess of the BSF but stands as a proud symbol of women empowerment and national pride. It underscores the BSF’s commitment to excellence, exploration, and dedication to service, demonstrating that borders can be crossed, both literally and metaphorically.
