Jai Hind warriors today we are going to discuss a very important issue and which remains a doubt for many defence aspirants.

What is Backlog?

  • Backlogs are subjects whose exam are yet to be cleared either due to failures or abstention.
  • Like if you fail in this semester of your exam  in some subject(s) then you will not be held back rather promoted to the next semester . But you will have to clear this failed exam along with the exams of the next semester.
  • Sometimes it is also referred to the exams yet to be cleared. Like if you are in final sems and final exams have yet not been held.

Rules regarding Backlogs in various entries:

1.    NDA Entry: Candidates need to either have passed 12th or studying in 12th but can produce their marksheets well in advance to commencement of the course.

2.    TES and INA B.Tech Entry: Both these entries require you to clear your board exams and JEE with a minimum percentage and rank.

As is clear in all entries of 10+2 , question of backlogs don’t arise. Now coming to the Graduation, wherein “backlogs” will be used for failed subjects.

3.    CDS Entry: It is clearly mentioned in the notification that for any of the four academies, (IMA, OTA, INA and AFA) final year students are eligible to apply but shouldn’t have a backlog

4.    AFCAT Entry: Here also final year students are eligible given that they do not have any backlogs.

5.    SSC(Tech) and TGC: Similar to previous entries, final year students are eligible to apply on the conditions that they should not have any backlogs.

6.    NCC Entry: In the notification for NCC 51th Special Entry Scheme, and even the NCC entries before that, there was no mention of backlogs. So any final year student provided he fulfils the other conditions, is eligible for this entry.

7.    INET : In the last notification, there was no mention of backlogs, so similar to entgr

8.    JAG Entry: Final year students are not eligible to apply for this entry.

Conclusion

If you are eligible for any entry, then this means you are very well allowed to appear before the SSB for that entry.

Hope all your doubts were cleared. Stay tuned for more updates and exam strategies regarding defence exams
