‘Gram Manchitra’

To empower Gram Panchayats and improve grassroots spatial planning, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched tools like the GIS app “Gram Manchitra” and mobile solution “mActionSoft.”
Utilizing geo-spatial technology, these tools offer a unified platform for visualizing and planning developmental works, facilitating the formulation of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
The Gram Manchitra application serves as a single and unified Geo-Spatial platform.

This platform is instrumental in facilitating decision-making processes related to the GPDP.
It empowers Gram Panchayats to visualize developmental works across diverse sectors in a comprehensive manner.
One of the primary functions of Gram Manchitra is to enable Gram Panchayats to better visualize developmental projects.
Through geo-spatial technology, officials can gain insights into various works planned at the Gram Panchayat level, fostering a more transparent and informed approach to spatial planning.

Global Investors Summit

Japan Unveils JT-60SA

Captain Geetika Koul

In a historic development, Captain Geetika Koul, a woman army doctor, has been deployed at Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, marking a significant stride towards gender inclusivity in India’s armed forces.
This follows the deployment of Captain Shiva Chouhan, from the Corps of Engineers, at the same location almost a year ago.

The deployment of women officers like Captain Geetika Koul at Siachen and Lieutenant Commander Prerna Deosthalee’s command appointment at INS Trinkat mark a new chapter for women in the armed forces.
As India progresses towards greater gender inclusivity, these achievements highlight the commitment to recognizing and leveraging the capabilities of women officers, fostering a more diverse and resilient military force.

India Provides $250 Million Line Of Credit To Kenya

In a significant development, India has extended a $250 million Line of Credit to Kenya for the modernization of its agricultural sector.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the visit of Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto, where both countries expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties not only in agricultural but also in defense, counter-terrorism and technology.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India’s willingness to share its experience in developing Digital Public infrastructure with Kenya.
Additionally, Kenya has shown interest in joining the International Solar Alliance and Global Biofuels Alliance, signaling a potential collaboration in the renewable energy sector..

Akshata Krishnamurthy

Akshata Krishnamurthy is an Indian woman who created history as she became the first person from the country to operate the Mars rover with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States.
A woman from India had dream and she fulfilled it by becoming the first Indian citizen to operate a rover on Mars, a mission that involves collecting samples to bring back to Earth.

Akshata is a PhD holder from the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). She is among the few Indians who joined NASA for a full-time opportunity.
Dr Krishnamurthy worked on NASA projects by joining the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a research laboratory that is owned by NASA.
Akshata is a principal investigator and mission science phase lead at NASA. She has been working at NASA for over five years now.
Akshata’s journey began 13 years ago when she came to the United States with a dream to work at NASA and lead science and robotic operations on Earth and Mars.

However, she was discouraged from having unrealistic goals as she was a foreign national on a visa. People told her to have a different plan or change her field entirely.
However, Akshata blocked those comments and persevered until she reached the goal.
Krishnamurthy also delivered a motivational message through her viral post. “No dream is ever too big or crazy. Believe in yourself, keep those blinkers on and keep working! I promise, you’ll get there if you work hard,” she wrote.

eKYC For Farmers

The government has introduced Face recognition and Aadhaar identification based eKYC of farmers to ensure transparency in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-Kisan).
Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje said many fake entries have been submitted to receive the amount under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
To ensure good governance and transparency in direct benefit transfer to farmers, a new eKYC has been initiated after the release of the 13th PM-Kisan fund. She said the process of eKYC is very easy and can be completed even through a mobile app.

The Government of India has disbursed over 2.60 Lakhs Crore rupees to more than 11 Crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme.
In the scheme, an amount of six thousand rupees is transferred annually in three equal instalments of two thousand rupees directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.
The PM-KISAN Scheme was launched in February 2019 to provide financial assistance to all cultivable landholding farmer families across the country.
