IAF Receives Israeli Spike NLOS Anti-Tank Missiles
- IAF has received Israeli Spike NLOS (Non-Line of Sight) anti-tank guided missiles, which can reach targets from distances of up to 30 km, to improve its ability to destroy enemy targets hidden behind mountains.
- According to defence officials, the Israeli Spike NLOS anti-tank guided missiles have been delivered and trials will begin soon.
- The NLOS missiles will now be combined with the Russian-origin fleet of Mi-17V5 helicopters, which can take out targets from long distances and be particularly efficient against enemy objectives and assets hidden behind mountains or hills, according to the sources.
- Spike is an Israeli fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile and anti-personnel missile with a tandem-charge high-explosive anti-tank warhead. As of 2007, it is in its fourth generation. It was developed and designed by the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.

LS Passes Bill That Seeks To Give Push To Theaterisation
- Lok Sabha passed a bill to empower commanders of inter-services organisations to exercise disciplinary or administrative control over personnel of the army, IAF & navy serving under their command with Rajnath Singh stating that the legislation is an important step in the direction of military reforms.
- The Defence Minister moved the Inter-Services Organisations (Command, Control and Discipline) Bill, 2023 for passage in the House amid opposition protests over their demands related to Manipur debate.
- Rajnath Singh said that at present the service personnel of the Air Force, Army and Navy are governed by the provisions of the Air Force Act, of 1950, the Army Act, of 1950 and the Navy Act, of 1957 and only officers of the respective services are empowered to exercise disciplinary powers over the service personnel under the respective Service Acts.
India To Participate In Ukraine Peace Talks Hosted By Saudi Arabia
- India will participate in Ukraine peace talks to be hosted by Saudi Arabia on Aug. 5 and 6, a foreign ministry spokesperson said during a news briefing.
- Saudi Arabia has invited Western nations, Ukraine and some major developing countries to discuss the peace plan proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy earlier this year.
- Russia, which has not been invited, said that it will follow the discussions. Ukraine has said that the Kremlin was not welcome at the talks.
