INS Trikand Docks In Iran As Part Of the Indian Navy’s Operational Deployment   

• Indian Naval Ship INS Trikand received a warm welcome upon its arrival at Bandar Abbas, the port city of Iran on Sunday.
• The Indian Naval Ship is on a visit to Iran as part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment towards cooperative maritime engagement with regional countries, said the Indian Navy spokesperson.
• India-Iran relations span millennia marked by meaningful interactions. India and Iran established diplomatic links on March 15, 1950. In addition to the Embassy in Tehran, India has two Consulates in Iran, one in Bandar Abbas and the other in Zahedan, according to the Ministry of External Affairs.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that he spoke with Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi and discussed the realisation of the full potential of the Chabahar port.

The Netherlands and Denmark Will Give F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine 

• Dutch PM Mark Rutte told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the Netherlands and Denmark will give F-16 warplanes to Ukraine.
• Rutte, meeting with Zelenskyy at a Dutch air base, said the planes would be delivered once unspecified conditions are met.
• The offer came two days after the Netherlands and Denmark said the U.S. had authorized the countries to deliver American-made F-16s to Ukraine.
• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the Netherlands on Sunday, two days after the country said the United States gave its approval.
• The U.S. approval Friday for the Netherlands and Denmark to deliver American-made F-16s to Ukraine was seen as a major boost for Kyiv, even though the fighter jets won’t have an impact any time soon on the almost 18-month war.

Day 3: India, China Discuss Patrolling & De-escalation    

• India and China have been discussing the de-escalation of border flashpoints, depth and scope of patrolling in disputed regions and other confidence-building measures in Eastern Ladakh border talks that have been on for a record three days and could continue.
• Sources said that talks at the Major General level are taking place in a positive and constructive manner to make progress in easing border tensions.
• The two sides have held 19 rounds of talks so far to address the boundary issues in Eastern Ladakh since 2020 post-Chinese aggression there.
• As part of the follow-up on discussions at Corps Commander level talks, the Indian Army and their Chinese counterparts are holding the Maj Gen-level talks.
• The Indian side is being represented by Trishul Division Commander Maj Gen PK Mishra and Uniform Force Commander Maj Gen Hariharan at two different locations.
• The talks are based on the outcome of the 19th round of Corps Commander-level talks held between the two sides on August 13,14 at the Chushul Moldo border meeting point.
