Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi Takes Charge As 26th Navy Chief

  • Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, on Tuesday took charge as the 26th Navy chief after R Hari Kumar retired from service. Dinesh K Tripathi, earlier served as the director-general of naval operations and the flag officer commanding-in-chief of the Western Naval Command.
  • Prior to taking over as Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, VAdm Dinesh K Tripathi served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.
  • An alumnus of Sainik School Rewa and National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1985.
  • Born on May 15, 1964, Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on July 01, 1985. A Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist, he has had a long and distinguished service spanning nearly 39 years.
  • VAdm DK Tripathi has commanded Indian Naval Ships Vinash, Kirch and Trishul. He has also held various important operational and staff appointments which include Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet; Director of Naval Operations; Principal Director, Network Centric Operations and Principal Director, Naval Plans at New Delhi.

6th Barge of LSAM 16 Series Built By Private Firm Launched

  • The sixth barge of the LSAM 16 (Yard 130) series, built by a private firm, was launched in Maharashtra’s Thane on Monday, the officials said.
  • The barge will help the Navy in facilitating transportation of articles, ammunition to ships, the officials added.
  • “The launch of ‘Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge, LSAM 20 (Yard 130)’, 6th Barge of 11 x ACTCM Barge Project, built by MSME Shipyard, Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane for Indian Navy, was undertaken on April 29 at Suryadipta Project Pvt. Ltd.,” the Ministry of Defence said.
  • The launching Ceremony was presided over by Madhusudan Bhui, INAS, GM NAD (Karanja).
  • The contract for building 11 x ACTCM barge was signed between Ministry of Defence and Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane on March 5, 2021.

No dossiers on terror now; Bharat ghar mein ghus ke marta hai: PM Modi

  • PM  Narendra Modi said that unlike the practice during Congress regime of sending dossiers to Pakistan after the Mumbai terror attacks, the BJP-led government hits terrorists on their home turf.
  • “During the Congress regime, the news headlines were about India handing over another dossier to Pakistan about terror activities.
  • “Today, India doesn’t send dossiers. Aaj Bharat ghar mein ghus ke marta hai (Today, India kills terrorists on their home turf),” Modi said. “The headlines in Naya Bharat are: Mission LOC, India punishes Pakistan through surgical strikes,” Modi said.
  • RAW Official Was Involved In Assassination Plot Of  Pannun US Media
  • Pannun is one of the main leaders of the Khalistan movement and the legal advisor and spokesperson for Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which aims to promote the idea of a separate Sikh state.
  • The Indian government has declared Pannun a terrorist.
  • In an investigative report, The Washington Post newspaper said, “That India would pursue lethal operations in North America has stunned Western security officials.”
  • “Yadav’s identity and affiliation, which have not previously been reported, provide the most explicit evidence to date that the assassination plan – ultimately thwarted by US authorities – was directed from within the Indian spy service,” the daily reported. “Higher-ranking (Research and Analysis Wing) RAW officials have also been implicated, according to current and former Western security officials, as part of a sprawling investigation by the CIA, FBI and other agencies that has mapped potential links to (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) Modi’s inner circle,” it said.
  • Jaiswal stated that there is an ongoing investigation by a high-level committee established by the Indian government to address security concerns raised by the US regarding criminal and terrorist networks.
  • “Speculative and irresponsible comments on it are not helpful,” he added.

Fourth General K Sundarji Memorial Lecture

  • The 4th General Sundarji Memorial Lecture was organised by the Indian Army in Manekshaw Centre to commemorate the legacy of one of India’s foremost military thinkers General K Sundarji. The lecture was conducted under the aegis of Mechanised Infantry Centre & School and Centre for Land Warfare Studies.
  • The event was attended by serving and retired officers of the three Services as well as literati and various think tanks. The lecture remembered the dynamic and visionary General K Sundarji, the 13th Chief of the Army Staff, who is also fondly called as the ‘Father of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment’.

ICG Helps Arrange A Super-specialist Medical Camp In Lakshadweep

  • ICG in collaboration with AIIMS New Delhi and support of the Union Territory administration conducted a  medical camp from 29th to 30th April 2024 in the remote islands Kavaratti and Androth of UT Lakshadweep.
  • The camp engaged approximately 1,500 citizens at each island and provided free of cost medicines along with expert consultation.
  • Dr M Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, Delhi headed the medical team which comprised of 15 specialist doctors from fields of Gynecology, Pediatrics, Neurology, Dermatology, Orthopedic and more. The medical camp focused on providing super-specialist medical coverage in the far-flung islands and help the local people through consultation with domain experts.

Jaishankar Interacts With Participants of IAF

  • EAM S Jaishankar spoke to participants of the Indian Air Force (IAF) – Media Coordination Centre’s (MCC) Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Program (WASP) on his book ‘The India Way.’ Jaishankar said that the discussion focused on current geopolitics and India’s strategic choices.
  • In 2022, Jaishankar released the book ‘The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World.’ He had presented the first copy of his book to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In 2024, Jaishankar released his second book “Why Bharat Matters.”
  • While speaking at the Raisina Dialogue 2024 in February, EAM Jaishankar highlighted that his first book was about the way, and the second is about India’s significance in people’s lives.
