CMS-03 Satellite Will Provide Robust Telecom Coverage

India has successfully launched the CMS-03 communication satellite, a major milestone in strengthening the nation’s space-based telecommunication and maritime communication systems. Designed and developed indigenously by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the satellite was lifted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

Weighing around 4,410 kilograms, CMS-03 is India’s heaviest communication satellite so far. It is equipped with multiple transponders to support voice, data, and video links across different communication bands. The satellite will enhance connectivity across the Indian Ocean Region, ensuring secure and uninterrupted communication among the Indian Navy’s ships, submarines, aircraft, and operational centres.

This advanced system will greatly boost the Navy’s maritime domain awareness and provide high-capacity bandwidth for real-time coordination. The satellite features several state-of-the-art indigenous components designed specifically to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Navy.
