Exercise ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’
A major tri-service military exercise named ‘Poorvi Prachand Prahar’ is set to take place this month in the rugged mountains of Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh. The exercise aims to enhance joint warfighting capabilities, encourage technological integration, and strengthen operational synergy among the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
According to Defence PRO Lt Col Mahendra Rawat, the exercise is a forward-looking initiative designed to validate multi-domain operations across land, air, and maritime domains. It will test the forces’ situational awareness, command and control systems, and interoperability in complex scenarios.
This exercise continues India’s ongoing effort toward tri-service integration, following the earlier successful conduct of Exercise ‘Bhala Prahar’ (2023) and Exercise ‘Poorvi Prahar’ (2024).
Pakistan Actively Testing Nuclear Weapons: Trump
Former US President Donald Trump has named Pakistan among the countries that are actively testing nuclear weapons, along with Russia, China, and North Korea. Announcing that he had instructed the US military to resume nuclear weapons testing, Trump stated that the move was intended to maintain parity with rival nations.
He argued that the United States should not remain the only nation to halt nuclear testing while others continue theirs. Trump also emphasized that the US possesses more nuclear weapons than any other country and is engaging in denuclearisation talks with Russia and China.
His announcement follows reports of Russia testing advanced nuclear-capable systems, while Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently terminated the plutonium disposal agreement with the US, a deal that was originally meant to limit the production of weapons-grade nuclear material.
Pakistan Eyes 2026 Launch for First Chinese Submarine
The Pakistan Navy is preparing to commission its first Chinese-designed Hangor-class submarine into active service by 2026, as confirmed by Admiral Naveed Ashraf in an interview with China’s Global Times.
Under a $5 billion deal, eight submarines are to be delivered to Pakistan by 2028, with the first four being built in China, and the remaining four assembled in Pakistan to boost its indigenous shipbuilding capabilities. Three of these submarines have already been launched in China’s Hubei province into the Yangtze River.
The Hangor-class submarines will significantly strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the North Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, improving its patrol capabilities. The deal also follows recent tensions between India and Pakistan, when Pakistani jets reportedly shot down an Indian Rafale aircraft using Chinese J-10 fighters, raising questions about Western versus Chinese defence technologies.
1947 Battle of Badgam
The Indian Air Force (IAF) recently revisited a defining chapter in India’s military history—the Battle of Badgam, fought on November 3, 1947, during the First Indo-Pak War.
This pivotal battle took place in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, where the IAF’s Spitfire, Harvard, and Tempest aircraft played a decisive role by destroying enemy positions, air-dropping supplies, and turning the tide in India’s favour.
In a commemorative post on social media, the IAF highlighted how these air operations helped save the Srinagar Airfield from an overwhelming attack, ensuring the defence of Kashmir during a time of chaos and uncertainty. The mission also aided state forces and refugees, marking one of the earliest examples of India’s effective use of air power in warfare.
TATA Advanced Systems Collaborates with W&E Platt on Uncooled Thermal Imaging Sights
TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has announced a new partnership with Australia-based W&E Platt to co-develop and manufacture uncooled thermal imaging (TI) weapon sights.
This collaboration combines TASL’s expertise in optronics with W&E Platt’s technological experience in thermal imaging systems. The jointly developed sights will offer clear imaging in diverse environments without requiring sensor cooling, simplifying maintenance and logistics.
The project aims to serve both Indian and international markets, with applications in military and law enforcement operations. It will also support India’s ‘Make in India’ and self-reliance (Atmanirbhar Bharat) initiatives by enabling technology transfer, local manufacturing, and joint innovation.
While specific timelines and contract details have not been disclosed, both companies are expected to begin development activities soon, marking another step forward in Indo-Australian defence cooperation.
