Indigenous Warship or Submarine Every 40 Days

The Indian Navy is rapidly expanding its fleet, inducting a new indigenous warship or submarine roughly every 40 days, according to Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Naval Staff. This fast-paced growth demonstrates India’s strong focus on achieving Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence manufacturing.
Currently, the Navy operates about 145 ships and submarines, with plans to reach a strength of over 200 vessels by 2035. Notably, all 52 ships under construction are being built in Indian shipyards, highlighting domestic manufacturing capability. The Navy also aims to make every component indigenous by 2047.
India’s defence production has tripled in the past decade, surpassing ₹1.5 lakh crore, reflecting growing industrial capacity and confidence—shifting the vision from “Make in India” to “Trust in India.”

India’s First 3D Printed Mobile Drone Units

In a landmark technological achievement, Chennai-based Zuppa and Navi Mumbai-based Divide By Zero (DBZ) have developed India’s first 3D printed Mobile Drone Fabrication Units. This innovation strengthens India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by combining AI, autonomous systems, and additive manufacturing for battlefield deployment.
Using DBZ’s advanced 3D printing technology, these mobile units can produce airframes and components that Zuppa then integrates into mission-ready drones with AI-based control systems. This concept mirrors advanced military manufacturing models seen in the United States, such as Firestorm Labs’ deployable production pods, revolutionising battlefield logistics and rapid drone replenishment.

₹1 Lakh Crore RDI Mega Fund for Innovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a historic ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund during the Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 in New Delhi.
The fund seeks to transform India into a leader in next-generation fields like AI, quantum computing, biotechnology, defence technologies, space systems, and renewable energy.
Over 3,000 global experts, including Nobel laureates and innovators, attended the three-day conclave to discuss India’s science and innovation roadmap for Amrit Kaal (2047 vision). The RDI fund will operate through a cluster-based approach, supporting collaboration between universities, research labs, private companies, and defence organisations.

Thales Establishes Permanent Presence at Ambala Air Base

French defence firm Thales will station a permanent representative at the Indian Air Force’s Ambala Air Force Station—the base of India’s first Rafale fighter squadron. The representative will oversee maintenance and technical support for Rafale’s sophisticated avionics, radar, and sensor systems.
This move strengthens the long-term sustainment agreement under India’s Rafale logistics framework. It also allows Indian partners like BEL and DRDO to gain valuable exposure to cutting-edge radar and sensor technologies, potentially benefiting future indigenous fighter programs such as AMCA and Tejas Mk2.

India and Israel Sign Major Defence Agreement

India and Israel have signed a major Defence Cooperation Pact in Tel Aviv to enhance co-development and co-production of advanced military systems. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalised after a meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defence Cooperation.
The agreement focuses on areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, defence R&D, industrial cooperation, and training. It sets a unified direction for both nations to share technology and strengthen strategic defence ties. Both sides agreed that their partnership has yielded mutual benefits and that ongoing collaboration will further boost defence innovation.
