Operation Sindoor
- A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.
- Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted.
- Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution.
- These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable.
Operation Sindoor: Red Alert Issued in Uttar Pradesh
- A red alert was declared in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday after the Indian Army’s targeted strike on terror hideouts in Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
- “Red Alert declared in Uttar Pradesh following #OperationSindoor – the Indian Army’s targeted strike on terror hideouts. All UP Police field formations have been instructed to coordinate with Defence units and strengthen the security of vital installations,” said DGP, UP in a post on X.
- India carried out precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on terrorist infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir—areas identified as bases for plotting attacks against the country, officials said.
- Witnesses told Reuters that power outages followed explosions in the targeted region. Nine specific sites were hit in what officials described as a focused and non-escalatory action, with clear avoidance of Pakistani military installations.
- Sources told ET that the strikes were a coordinated effort between the Indian Army and Air Force, employing precision-guided weapons and demonstrating restraint in both target selection and execution.
- The operation follows the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indians and a Nepali national. “This is part of our resolve to ensure those behind the massacre are brought to justice,” officials added.
- The strikes were designed to eliminate senior operatives of terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, both accused of orchestrating attacks on Indian soil.
India-Pakistan conflict: China ‘regrets military actions’ by India
- China has expressed ‘regret’ over India’s ‘military strikes’ in retaliation to brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir that killed 26.
- India announced that precise strikes have been carried out against nine targets in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to take down terror infrastructure.
- Responding to India’s announcement of a cross-border operation against terrorists’ camps in Pakistan and PoK, the Chinese foreign ministry said it is concerned about the current developments between India and Pakistan and urged both countries to avoid worsening the situation.
- China urged both India and Pakistan to refrain from taking actions that further complicate the situation. China also appealed to both nations to act with caution. It called on both India and Pakistan to put peace and stability first, remain calm and exercise restraint.
