For the first time, India, though at a multilateral format, has strongly criticised Israel for its actions in Gaza that have led to the displacement, deaths and casualties of thousands of civilians.
The Brics foreign ministers, in a joint statement issued after their meeting in Russia on Monday, expressed “grave concern at the deterioration of the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in particular the unprecedented escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli military operation that led to mass civilian displacement, deaths and casualties, and destruction of civilian infrastructure.”
