Exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025

A 120-member contingent from the Indian Army has departed for Irwin Barracks, Perth, Australia, to take part in the fourth edition of the India–Australia joint military exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025, scheduled from 13th to 26th October 2025.
The Indian side is represented by a Battalion of Gorkha Rifles along with personnel from other arms and services.

The exercise aims to enhance defence cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform for exchanging tactics, techniques, and procedures related to sub-conventional warfare in urban and semi-urban environments.
The participation reflects the growing mutual trust and camaraderie between the Indian and Australian armies, strengthening the spirit of bilateral military collaboration.

United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave

The Indian Army will host the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries’ (UNTCC) Chiefs’ Conclave in New Delhi from 14th to 16th October 2025. This high-level event will bring together senior military leaders from 32 nations that play a major role in UN peacekeeping operations.

Delegations are scheduled to arrive on 13th October 2025, and the conclave will serve as a platform to discuss operational challenges, evolving threats, interoperability, inclusivity in decision-making, and the role of technology and training in future UN missions.

As one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping, India seeks to promote cooperation and share best practices in alignment with the philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The World is One Family).
Countries including Australia, Bangladesh, France, Nepal, Kenya, and Vietnam, among others, will participate in the event.

Inspector Bhawna Chaudhary Becomes BSF’s First Woman Flight Engineer

The Border Security Force (BSF) has achieved a historic milestone with Inspector Bhawna Chaudhary becoming the first woman flight engineer in its air wing, following the successful completion of its inaugural in-house training programme.

She, along with four male officers, was awarded the flying badge by BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary.
The BSF air wing, established in 1969, operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and provides aviation support to various paramilitary and special forces such as the NSG and NDRF.

Formed in December 1965, the BSF, with a strength of nearly 3 lakh personnel, is responsible for guarding India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh and assisting in internal security duties.

DAC Approves ₹5,150 Crore ‘Dharashakthi’ Integrated EW System

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved a major project worth ₹5,150 crore for the Dharashakthi Integrated Electronic Warfare (EW) System, developed indigenously to strengthen India’s electronic warfare capabilities.

The system is designed to detect, intercept, monitor, and disrupt enemy electronic signals, ensuring secure communication for Indian forces. It is specifically tailored for desert and plain terrains, including the Samaghat and Shatrughat sectors.
This approval represents a major step toward self-reliance in defence technologies and enhances India’s operational readiness in high-temperature and open-field conditions.

India to Participate in Gaza Peace Summit

India will be represented by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardan Singh at the Gaza Peace Summit scheduled to take place on 13th October 2025 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
The summit, co-hosted by Egypt and the United States, will bring together over 20 world leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who were invited to discuss the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

The discussions are expected to focus on restoring peace in Gaza, with mediation efforts led by Egypt, the U.S., and Qatar.
The event will be co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, underlining global efforts toward a long-term resolution in the Middle East.
