Trump Calls for Iran’s ‘Unconditional Surrender’  

  • Iran and Israel launched new missile strikes at each other on Wednesday as the air war between the two longtime enemies entered a sixth day despite a call from U.S. President Donald Trump for Iran’s unconditional surrender.
  • The Israeli military said two barrages of Iranian missiles were launched toward Israel in the first two hours of Wednesday morning. Explosions were heard over Tel Aviv.
  • Israel told residents in the area of Tehran to evacuate so its air force could strike Iranian military installations. Iranian news websites said explosions were heard in Tehran and the city of Karaj west of the capital.
  • Trump warned on social media on Tuesday that U.S. patience was wearing thin. While he said there was no intention to kill Iran’s leader “for now,” his comments suggested a more aggressive stance toward Iran as he weighs whether to deepen U.S. involvement.
  • “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” he wrote on Truth Social, referring to Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now … Our patience is wearing thin.”

Four Heavy US Bombers Stationed At Key Indian Ocean Base

  • Four US Stratofortress bombers are currently stationed at the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, according to an AFP analysis of satellite imagery, as the conflict between Israel and Iran extended to its fifth straight day.
  • The base, leased to the United States by Britain, is one of its key military facilities in the Asia-Pacific region, and was used as a hub for long-range bombers and ships during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
  • The four B52H Stratofortresses, which can carry nuclear weapons or other precision-guided munitions, were spotted on a southern tarmac at Diego Garcia on Monday at 0922 GMT.
  • A C-17 Globemaster III troop and cargo transport plane is also at the base, according to the AFP analysis, as well as six jets likely to be KC-135 airborne refuelling tanker.
  • The Pentagon said Monday that it was sending “additional capabilities” to the Middle East amid an escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict, while the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz cancelled a Vietnam visit to head toward the Indian Ocean according to Marine Traffic, a ship-tracking site.
  • Washington has also redeployed around 30 refuelling planes toward bases in Europe.

Indian Navy Set To Acquire ‘Abhimanyu’

  • The Indian Navy is making significant strides toward integrating unmanned aerial systems into its carrier air wings, with the Abhimanyu drone, developed by Bangalore-based New Space Research & Technologies (NRT), at the forefront of this initiative.
  • The Abhimanyu is being developed as the basis for the Naval Collaborative Combat Air Vehicle (N-CCAV) program, representing India’s entry into the global trend of deploying “loyal wingman” drones alongside crewed fighter aircraft.

IAF to Get Advanced Indigenous Smart Anti-airfield Weapon

  • Indian Air Force is looking to acquire an advanced version of the Indigenous Smart Anti-Airfield Weapon, which would be fitted on almost the entire fighter jet fleet of the force, including the Su-30 MKI.
  • A proposal from the Indian Air Force to get the satellite-guided version of the SAAW air launched glide bomb is expected to be discussed by the Defence Ministry soon. This would be able to hit targets with accuracy at 100 Km strike range.
  • SAAW, an indigenously designed and developed 120 kg class smart weapon developed by DRDO, is capable of engaging ground targets with high precision up to a range of 100 kms. The lightweight high precision guided bomb is one of the world-class weapons systems.
  • SAAW is indigenously designed and developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad has been developed with an aim of engaging ground enemy airfield assets such as radars, bunkers, taxi tracks, and runways etc.

Indian Army holds Chiefs’ Chintan

  • Chiefs’ Chintan, a structured two-day interaction, between the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Upendra Dwivedi, and former Chiefs of the Army Staff (CsOAS), at New Delhi commenced on Tuesday, Defence Ministry said.
  • Being held in the aftermath of Operation SINDOOR, the conclave is aimed to provide a platform to leverage the institutional knowledge and experience of the former CsOAS.
  • General Dwivedi welcomed the former Chiefs and underlined the importance of their continued engagement in shaping the ongoing transformation and future direction of the Indian Army, an official release said.
  • Defence Ministry said that a key highlight of the event today was a comprehensive operational briefing on Operation SINDOOR, including the synergised conduct of operations with the Indian Air Force and Navy. The operation’s execution, strategic impact and jointmanship model were presented in detail to provide contextual understanding and invite insights from the former Chiefs.
