  • Adani Defence & Aerospace has signed a binding collaboration agreement with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC) to assemble anti-submarine warfare (ASW) solutions for the Indian Navy.

The 90m Club in Men’s Javelin: As Neeraj Chopra Breaks Barrier

  • Late Friday night in Doha at the Diamond League, the rather exclusive 90m club in men’s javelin throw found not one, but two entrants. First, off his third attempt, India’s Neeraj Chopra achieved a long-standing dream. He had been knocking on the door for ages but finally he broke it down with a mammoth 90.23m throw to become the 25th man in history to achieve the feat. But there was to be another late twist. Germany’s Julian Weber got ticket No 26 into the list, throwing 91.06m and pipping Neeraj to the title. The organisers of the event called it “one of the greatest javelin competitions of all time.”
  • Zelezny, who holds the world record for the longest throw (98.48m), does not attend Diamond League tournaments, but he came with Neeraj on Friday because he felt “today is the day to achieve 90m.”
  • Competing at the Qatar Sports Club Stadium, Neeraj got off to a brilliant start with a strong 88.44m throw in his very first attempt, which immediately put him in the lead. His second attempt was a foul, but he bounced back in style with his third — launching the javelin to a staggering 90.23 metres. That effort not only marked a career-best for Chopra but also made him the latest entrant in the elite 90m club, a mark considered the gold standard in javelin throwing.
