First Batch Of NDA’s Women Cadets To Take Part In Passing Out Parade

  • The first batch of women cadets of the National Defence Academy will participate in the passing out parade along with their male counterparts this year, an official said on Saturday. The parade of the 145th NDA course will be reviewed on November 30 by President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, the defence official added.
  • Last year, the first batch of 19 women cadets joined the NDA, Khadakwasla, a premier tri-services institution that has given the country the finest military officers, and they are currently in the second year of the military-cum-academic training, he said.
  • “Women cadets will be part of the marching contingent. They are currently in their second year. The second-year and third-year cadets take part in the passing out parade,” the official informed.

INS Sharda Visits Port Antsiranana, Madagascar

  • Indian Navy Ship (INS) Sharda is on a visit to Port Antsiranana, Madagascar, from November 17-23 as part of an ongoing operational deployment.
  • The ship’s visit aims to strengthen bridges of friendship and the Indian Navy’s sustained efforts towards ensuring maritime security in the region by partnering with regional navies in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).
  • Madagascar is a SAGAR partner of India. Launched in 2020, Mission SAGAR is a global initiative along the lines of the Sagar doctrine. India launched this mission to provide relief aid to Indian Ocean countries following the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative covers the Maldives, Mauritius, Madagascar, Comoros, and Seychelles.

Israel Condemns Iranian-backed Houthis For Hijacking International Vessel

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the hijacking of an international vessel by Iran-backed Houthis in the Red Sea and called it a “very serious incident on the global scale.”
  • Israel Defence Force (IDF) said that the ship was sailing from Turkey to India with an international civilian crew, without any Israelis aboard and added, “This is not an Israeli ship“.
  • It also shared, “Onboard the vessel are 25 crew members of various nationalities including Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Filipino and Mexican. No Israelis are onboard.”

IAF To Develop Indigenous Jammer Pod For LCA Mk 1A

  • The Indian Air Force is working on a project to develop an indigenous jammer pod for the homegrown LCA Mark 1A fighter aircraft, IAF officials said on.
  • “IAF’s Base Repair Depots have been tasked to indigenise many of the equipment required on its fighter and transport aircraft and other weapon systems and cut down imports,” officials added.
  • “We have already manufactured a quantity of 10 lakh and handed it over to the Indian Army successfully. This is a very safe prototype and advanced prototype of a hand grenade. It has added safety features as well and its efficacies are much more than the erstwhile, HE 36 hand grenade.

Second IAF Aircraft Carrying Emergency Aid For Gaza

  • A second Indian Air Force (IAF) C17 aircraft, carrying 32 tonnes of aid for civilians in Gaza caught up in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, on Sunday departed for the El-Arish Airport in Egypt.
  • Earlier, India sent 38 tonnes of humanitarian relief for civilians caught up in the ongoing ground offensive by the Israeli forces in the Strip.
  • The aid package comprised fluids and painkillers. The disaster relief material, weighing approximately 32 tonnes, also included tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, basic sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets, among other items.

77 Indian Military Personnel In The Maldives; New Government Reviewing With India

  • There were 77 Indian military personnel in the Maldives and the new government here was reviewing more than 100 agreements signed with New Delhi, a senior Maldivian official said, a day after President Mohamed Muizzu formally requested India to withdraw them from the island nation.
  • Addressing a press conference here, the Undersecretary for Public Policy of the Presidential Office, Mohamed Firuzul Abdul Khaleel said the new administration has established that there are 77 Indian military personnel in the Maldives.
  • There were 24 Indian military personnel to manage the first helicopter, 25 Indians to manage the Dornier aircraft, 26 personnel to manage the second helicopter, and two more for maintenance and engineering, Firuzul was quoted as saying by the Maldivian media.
  • He said that President Muizzu, who won the presidential election in September, has initiated efforts to expel all 77 from the Maldives.
