India Hosts Global Intel Chiefs’ Meet
- The two-day meeting which began on Tuesday, is being held to discuss contemporary security challenges which have global ramifications. It provides an opportunity to intelligence chiefs to share insights and strategies and establish cooperation to fight transnational crimes, including cyber threats, terrorism and terrorism financing, said people familiar with the matter.

- Last year intelligence chiefs of 25 countries participated in the meeting. Significantly, the Canadian intelligence chief is also expected to participate despite strained bilateral ties since September last year when Canadian PM told his country’s parliament that security agencies were pursuing “credible allegations of a potential link” b/w agents of the Indian government and the killing of Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June 2023.
Hungary Set To Ratify Sweden’s NATO Bid
- Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party proposed on Tuesday that parliament should vote to ratify Sweden’s bid to join NATO on Feb. 26, a move that it would support.

Chief Of Navy Royal New Zealand Navy Visit To India
- RAdm David Proctor, Chief of Navy, Royal New Zealand Navy is on an official visit to India from 19 – 27 Feb 24. RAdm David Proctor interacted with Adm R Hari Kumar, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Indian Navy at New Delhi on 20 Feb 24.
- During the interaction, the Principals discussed avenues to strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation, including increased operational engagements, training exchanges and information sharing. RAdm David Proctor is scheduled to participate in Indian Navy’s Flagship Exercise MILAN 24 at Visakhapatnam.
Digital Flight Control Computer for Tejas Mk1A Flown Successfully
- In a significant development towards Tejas Mk1A programme, the Digital Fly by Wire Flight Control Computer (DFCC) was integrated in prototype LSP7 and successfully flown on 19th Feb 2024.
- DFCC has been indigenously developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru for the Tejas – Mk1A. Digital Fly by Wire Flight Control Computer features Quadraplex Power PC based Processor, high speed autonomous state machine based I/O controller, enhanced computational throughput and complex on-board software complied to DO178C level- A safety requirements.
- The improved version of the aircraft, Tejas MK1A features advanced mission computer, high performance Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC Mk1A), Smart Multi-Function Displays, Advanced Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar, Advanced Self-protection Jammer, Electronic Warfare Suit etc.

- The Supreme Court has reprimanded the Centre for its patriarchal approach towards women officers in the ICG, highlighting the denial of permanent commission to women officers in the ICG.
- The court questioned why women officers in the ICG are not treated equally to their male counterparts like in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
- “You speak of ‘nari shakti’ (woman power). Now show it here. You are in the deep end of the sea in this matter. You must come up with a policy which treats women fairly,” the bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra said.
- Priyanka Tyagi, a woman officer with a 14-year stint as a pilot in the ICG, was denied permanent entry despite her outstanding service record, which includes saving more than 300 lives at sea. Tyagi was part of the first-ever all-women crew on a Dornier aircraft for maritime patrolling in the eastern region in 2016.
