Rudram-II Air-to-surface Missile Successfully Test
- DRDO successfully flight-tested the Rudram -II air-to-surface missile from Su-30 MK-I platform of the Indian Air Force (IAF) off the coast of Odisha at around 1130 hours on May 29, 2024.
- The flight-test met all the trial objectives, validating the propulsion system and control & guidance algorithm. The performance of the missile has been validated from the flight data captured by range tracking instruments like electro-optical systems, radar and telemetry stations deployed by Integrated Test Range, Chandipur at various locations, including the on-board ship.
- The Rudram is a series of supersonic and hypersonic air-to-surface ground attack and anti-radiation missiles in development by the Defence Research and Development Organisation of India.
- The RudraM-II is an indigenously developed air-to-surface anti-radiation missile. With a range of 300 kilometres, a speed of up to Mach 5.5 and a 200 kilogramme payload, the missile is expected to play a vital role in strengthening India’s air security and defence preparedness and act as a ‘force multiplier’

Israeli Military Takes Full Control Of Gaza- Egypt Border
- The Israel Defence Forces said on Wednesday it was in full “operational control” of the entire Gaza-Egypt border and has so far located 20 tunnels leading into the Egyptian Sinai.
- The 14 km strip of land along the border is known as the Philadelphi corridor, a buffer zone created to prevent weapons smuggling in 2006 after Israel disengaged from the Strip. But in 2007, Hamas violently seized control of Gaza from the Palestinian Authority.
- The IDF reportedly found dozens of rocket launchers placed by Hamas along the border, a politically sensitive area. The border is technically a demilitarized zone under the terms of the Camp David Accords signed in 1978.

Another US MQ-9 Reaper Drone Goes Down In Yemen
- Another U.S. MQ-9 Reaper drone went down in Yemen, images online purported to show Wednesday, as Yemen’s Houthi rebels continued attacks on shipping around the Red Sea over the Israel-Hamas war.
- It wasn’t immediately clear what brought down the drone, but the U.S. military’s Central Command acknowledged seeing “reports” of the aircraft being downed in a desert region of Yemen’s central Marib province. It marked potentially the third such downing this month alone.
- Since Yemen’s civil war started in 2014, when the Houthis seized most of the country’s north and its capital of Sanaa, the U.S. military has lost at least five drones to the rebels. This month alone, there’s been two others suspected shootdowns of Reapers that the American military hasn’t confirmed.
- Reapers cost around $30 million apiece. They can fly at altitudes up to 50,000 feet (about 15,000 meters) and have an endurance of up to 24 hours before needing to land.
Attack on army camp in Assam: NIA files charge sheet against ULFA-I
- NIA on Wednesday filed a charge sheet against ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah and five others for conspiring to target army camps as part of an anti-India agenda, the central agency said. They have been charged for various criminal offences in a 2023 case involving a terror attack on an army camp by the proscribed terrorist organisation in Assam, the NIA said in a statement.
- “Myanmar-based United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), a banned terrorist outfit, had hatched the conspiracy and planned the execution of the attack, in which two motorcycle-borne youth had lobbed two grenades at the army camp in Kakopathar in Tinsukia district of Assam on the evening of 22nd November 2023,” it said.
- The charge sheet, which has exposed the deep rooted conspiracy hatched by the top leadership of ULFA-I “from across the international border”, has been filed under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act, the NIA said.
