Defence cooperation between India and Egypt
The 1960s saw Egypt and India’s defence collaboration flourish. With time, cooperation has increased. Egyptian pilots are trained by the Indian Air Force, which is the apex of defence cooperation between India and Egypt. The Helan 300 jet fighter was jointly constructed by Egypt and India. The Ai Chief of India visited Egypt in 1998. This gave a lot of encouragement for expanding collaboration. The concept for the Joint Defense Commission was created during this visit. The India-Egypt Joint Defense Commission was then constituted in 2006. The group has met six times since then. In 2016, Delhi played host to the sixth meeting. During the meeting, several defensive alliances were developed.
