The Indian Air Force will host a huge multilateral exercise called ‘Exercise Tarang Shakti’ in October-November this year, in which 10-12 top air powers from across the world would participate, as a major step towards establishing its capabilities to conduct large-scale aerial operations.

The Indian Air Force will host a multinational aerial exercise codenamed Exercise Tarang Shakti, in which 10-12 of the world’s top air forces would participate. Participation would be either direct or as an observer. The massive exercise, scheduled for October-November this year in the desert sector, would be the force’s first significant event of its kind. The exercise would equip Indian pilots with a one-of-a-kind learning opportunity. According to the officials, India has actively participated in similar aerial exercises over the years.
India has taken part in a number of such exercises, including the French Orion exercise, which was staged at the Mon De Marsan air station in France. Shivangi Singh, the IAF’s first female pilot to operate the Rafale fighter jet, also took part in the drill. France is expected to take part in the forthcoming Indian War games.
With its Rafale and Su-30 fighter planes, the Indian Air Force is slated to take part in the multinational aerial exercise. The IAF dispatched Rafale aircraft to the French exercise and Su-30s to Exercise INIOCHOS-23, a multi-national air exercise staged by the Greek Air Force.
The Rafale is the most powerful aircraft in the Indian Air Force fleet, while the Su-30s are the force’s core, accounting for about half of the combat aircraft fleet. The Rafales will also travel to France next month to participate in their national day celebration.
