According to two top Pakistani journalists, former Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa stated that the Pakistan Army lacks the ammunition and economic strength to combat India. General Bajwa questioned his troops’ ability, according to UK-based Pakistani media UK44. “The Pakistan Army cannot compete with the Indian Army.Pakistan cannot fight a war with India. According to Pakistan journalists Hamid Mir and Naseem Zehra, “tanks are not in working order, and there is no diesel for cannon movements.”

The allegations are expected to cast doubt on Pakistan’s military capability while also undermining military morale. Mir went on to say that General Bajwa made these remarks during a commanders’ meeting. He further alleged that General Bajwa felt there were few options and that Pakistan should instead seek ways to normalize relations with India and heal ties.

The journalist also claimed that both parties were working on a solution for Kashmir because Pakistan knew it lacked the weaponry and economic strength to attack India. The disclosures will also have an influence on Pakistan’s India hawks, as the reports demonstrate that the former army leader was fully aware that a prolonged confrontation with India would deplete the country’s resources.

Pakistan Economic Crisis

Pakistan is currently experiencing a severe economic crisis and is largely reliant on external loans to stay afloat. Pakistan’s political situation is likewise precarious, with the government and court at odds over elections in Punjab province. Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) attacks on security personnel in northern Pakistan are also causing concern in the country. Pakistan regards the Pakistani Army as a significant institution and one of the country’s most vital pillars. It should be mentioned that the Pakistan-based news outlet Dawn previously claimed that the fear of an “all-out war” with India was one of the security-related reasons highlighted by the Pakistani government as a reason for not holding elections.
