Shri Singh’s appointment comes at a critical moment for Manipur, a state facing various challenges related to policing, public order, and community trust. He stressed the importance of adhering to the Constitution of India and maintaining the Rule of Law, highlighting the necessity for impartiality and neutrality in public service.
In his remarks, the new DGP pointed out that policing should be fair and people-oriented, clearly indicating that community engagement will play a vital role in his strategy. He underscored the critical need for robust coordination among various security agencies to tackle law-and-order challenges effectively. This collaborative approach is seen as essential in Manipur, where multiple agencies are involved in maintaining peace and stability.
Senior officers greeted the new DGP, expressing optimism about the renewed focus on professional policing standards, public trust, and inter-agency collaboration. Shri Mukesh Singh’s leadership is anticipated to enhance adherence to constitutional values within the police force, fostering an environment where citizen confidence is prioritized.
As Singh embarks on his tenure, his responsibilities will encompass law enforcement, internal security, crime prevention, and public order management, in addition to working closely with other security agencies. The challenges ahead are significant, but with a strong commitment to institutional discipline and community trust, the Manipur Police under his guidance aims to navigate this critical phase in the state’s governance effectively.
