Bhasha Certificate Selfie Campaign

  • Ministry of Education launched a campaign ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie to encourage cultural diversity and promote multilingualism and foster the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
  • Bhasha Certificate Selfie initiative aims to promote the Bhasha Sangam mobile app, developed by the Ministry of Education and MyGov India. Using the app, people can learn 100+ sentences of daily use in as many as 22 scheduled Indian languages. The initiative, under the aegis of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, will aim to ensure that people acquire basic conversational skills in Indian languages. To achieve this, a target of 75 lakh people acquiring basic conversational skills has been set.
  • The ‘Bhasha Certificate Selfie’ initiative is encouraging people to upload their selfies with the certificate from their social media accounts using the hashtag #BhashaCertificateSelfie.

12th Annual Aegis Graham Bell Awards

  • Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier Telecom R&D centre of the Government of India has bagged three awards at 12th Annual Aegis Graham Bell Awards in a virtual ceremony on 25th Feb 2022 for its indigenously designed & developed innovative Telecom solutions in various categories.
  • CDOT is declared TOP WINNER  in three categories as below
  • 1. Indigenous Early Warning Platform for Disaster Management & Preparedness based on ITU’s Common Alerting Protocol (CAP)  in the “Tech for Social Good” category.
  • 2. C-DOT SAMVAD – A Unified Platform for Secure Messaging and Calling Solution.
  • 3. C-DOT Quarantine Alert System (CQAS) has won the first prize in the category of “Preventive measures to combat Covid 19”.

MSME RuPay Credit Card Launched

  • Union Minister for MSME, Narayan Rane announced establishment of MSME-Technology Centre at Sindhudurg and launched the MSME RuPay Credit Card on Friday. The MSME-Technology Center to be set up at Sindhudurg at a cost of about Rs 200 crore will enhance the competitiveness of MSME industries. It will also provide advisory support for technology as well as its intuition by enhancing the employment potential of unemployed youth in the area of those industries.
  • He inaugurated KONBAC SFURTI cluster at Kudal. The cluster will support 300 artisans and an amount of Rs 1.45 crore has been released by Ministry of MSME for setting up of the cluster. He also launched MSME Rupee Card on this occasion. The card will enable the user to avail the facility of digital payment at any time.

IVFRT Scheme Extended Till March 2026

  • The government has approved continuation of the Immigration Visa Foreigners Registration Tracking, IVFRT scheme for a period of five years with a financial outlay of over one thousand 364 crore rupees. The scheme will be in effect from April 2021 to March 2026. 
  • After the commencement of IVFRT, the number of Visa and Overseas Citizen of India’s cards registered a growth at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate, CAGR of 7.7 percent. The number of issued cards increased from 44.43 lakh in 2014 to 64.59 lakh in 2019. Home Ministry said, average visa processing time of 15 to 30 days has been reduced to a maximum of 72 hours in the case of e-visas. 95 percent of e-visas were issued within 24 hours. The Ministry added that International traffic to and from India grew from 3.71 crore to 7.5 crore during the last ten years at a CAGR of 7.2 percent.

UN Fund For Humanitarian Operations In Ukraine

  • The United Nations is allocating 20 million dollars to scale up its humanitarian operations in Ukraine following Russia’s special military strike in the country.
  • Making the announcement yesterday, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said, the UN and its humanitarian partners are committed to staying and delivering, to support people in Ukraine in their time of need, regardless of who or where they are.
  • UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths said, the 20 million dollars from the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund will help with health care, shelter, food, and water and sanitation for the most vulnerable people affected by the conflict.

400th Birth Anniversary Of Lachit Borphukan

  • Indian President will inaugurate a year-long celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Lachit Borphukan.
  • Born on 24th November, 1622, Borphukan was known for his leadership in the Battle of Saraighat, 1671 in which an attempt by Mughal forces to capture Assam was thwarted.
  • He was the inspiration behind strengthening India’s naval force and revitalising inland water transport and creating infrastructure associated with it due to his great naval strategies.
  • The Lachit Borphukan gold medal is awarded to the best cadet from the National Defence Academy.
  • The medal was instituted in 1999 to inspire defence personnel to emulate Borphukan’s heroism and sacrifices.
  • He died on 25th April, 1672.
