World Of Work Report: ILO

  • International Labour Organization(ILO) Has Released The Ninth Edition Of the ILO Monitor On The World Of Work Report, Which Says That After Significant Gains During The Last Quarter Of 2021, The Number Of Hours Worked Globally Dropped In The First Quarter Of 2022, To 3.8% Below The Employment Situation Before The Covid-19.

94 Years Since India Won 1st Olympic Gold In Hockey

  • India first participated at the Olympic Games in 1900, with a lone athlete Norman Pritchard winning two medals – both silver – in athletics and becoming the first Asian nation to win an Olympic medal.
  • The nation first sent a team to the Summer Olympic Games in 1920 and has participated in every Summer Games since then.
  • On May 26th India competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The men’s field hockey team won the gold medal, beginning a streak that continued through the 1956 Games.

RPF Personnel To Be Honoured

  • Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will honor Railway Protection Force, RPF personnel awarded with the President’s Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Meritorious Service, President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, and Jeewan Raksha Series of medals in New Delhi.
  • These awards are bestowed upon deserving personnel of the Force for their contribution in the service of the nation.
  • Railways Ministry said these award winners will inspire other force members to work with greater dedication. RPF is not only entrusted with the responsibility of security of railway property but also of passengers and passenger area.
  • It has emerged as a force with compassion as it has been helping women, children, elderly, the differently-abled and others in need of care and protection meeting railways.

Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s biggest Drone Festival-Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022 today at 10 AM at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
  • The Prime Minister will interact with Kisan drone pilots. He will witness open-air drone demonstrations and interact with startups in the drone exhibition center.
  • During this two-day Bharat Drone Mahotsav, over 1600 delegates will participate.
  • Several industry leaders, government officials, foreign diplomats, representatives from Public Sector Units, private companies and drone startups will participate in the Mahotsav and deliberate upon India’s Civil Aviation sector.
  • More than 70 exhibitors will display drones at the exhibition. Mahotsav will also witness virtual awards presentation ceremony of drone pilot certificates, product launches, flying demonstrations, display of a Made in India Drone Taxi prototype among others.

National Achievement Survey 2021 Report

  • Department of School Education and Literacy has released the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 report. It assesses the health of school education system in the country by conducting a comprehensive evaluation survey of children’s learning competencies at classes 3, 5, 8 and 10th with a cycle period of three years.
  • The report reflects the overall assessment of school education system. The last National Achievement Survey was held in 2017.
  • The NAS 2021 was held on 12th of November last year at all India level and covered  Government Schools, Government Aided Schools and Private Unaided Schools.
  • About 34 lakh students of 1.18 lakh schools in 720 districts from both rural and urban areas have participated in NAS 2021. The National Report Card has been released and placed in the public domain on nas.gov.in
  • It will enable analysis of results and remedial action at the appropriate levels.
  • The objective of NAS 2021 is to evaluate children’s progress and learning competencies as an indicator of the efficiency of the education system, to take appropriate steps for remedial actions at different levels.

World Bank Warns About Global Recession

  • World Bank Chief David Malpass has warned that the Russia-Ukraine conflict could cause a global recession as the price of food, energy, and fertilizers are increasing exponentially. He also said a series of coronavirus lockdowns in China are adding to concerns about a slowdown.
  • Mr. Malpass told today that Germany, the biggest economy in Europe and the fourth largest in the world higher is suffering due to high prices of energy. Mr. Malpass said, developing countries are also being affected by shortages of fertilizer, food, and energy.
  • This is the latest warning by World Bank over the rising risk the world economies may face in days to come.
  • Earlier, last month, World Bank cut its global economic growth forecast for this year by almost a full percentage point, to 3.2%.
