MoD Approves ₹30,000 Crore Indigenous UAV Deal
- The Defence Acquisition Council led by Rajnath Singh, has recently approved a major ₹30,000 crore contract to procure 87 Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones for the Indian armed forces, marking a pivotal step in unlocking and scaling the indigenous UAV manufacturing ecosystem in India.
- Crucially, the contract will be split between the two lowest bidders in a 64:36 ratio, ensuring that two separate manufacturing lines are established. This approach provides flexibility for ramping up production swiftly as well as supports future export potential.
- The drones procured will serve diverse roles including reconnaissance, electronic warfare, and precision missile strikes.

We’ll Take Half World Down With Us Asim Munir’s
- Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir has openly warned of a “nuclear war” from American soil. Addressing an event in Tampa, Florida, Pakistan’s de facto military ruler threatened to take down “half the world” if his country faced an existential threat in a future war with India.
- “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” he said.
- On The Indus Waters Treaty
- Pakistan’s Field Martial also threatened to destroy any infrastructure that India builds on the Indus water channels– which could impede water flow to Pakistan– saying his country has no dearth of missiles. Munir claimed that New Delhi’s decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty into abeyance after the Pahalgam terror attack in April could put 250 million people at risk of starvation.
- Nobel Prize
- The Pakistan Army Chief is on his second visit to the US in two months. On his last visit, he was invited for a White House luncheon with President Trump on June 18. During the visit, he had recommended the US President’s name for a Nobel Prize for his supposed peace-making efforts.

US designates BLA, Majeed Brigade as Foreign Terrorist Organisation
- The US on Monday designated Pakistan-based Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation.
- BLA was designated as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2019 following several terrorist attacks. Since then, the group has claimed responsibility for several attacks, including by the Majeed Brigade, the State Department said in a statement.
- The statement said the State Department is designating BLA and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO), and adding the Majeed Brigade as an alias to BLA’s previous SDGT designation.
- The action, it said, “demonstrates the Trump administration’s commitment to countering terrorism”.
- “Terrorist designations play a critical role in our fight against this scourge and are an effective way to curtail support for terrorist activities,” the State Department said.
