Major General G. Srinivas Assumes Command at College of Defence Management
Major General G. Srinivas has taken over as the new Commandant of the College of Defence Management (CDM), Secunderabad. He succeeds Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, who has been elevated to the post of Director General Information Systems.
Located in Secunderabad, the CDM is one of India’s premier tri-services institutions functioning under the Integrated Defence Staff. The college provides advanced management education to senior officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Its mission is to develop strategic leadership and enhance resource management skills, equipping officers to address the challenges of modern warfare and joint operations effectively.
Goodluck India Inks Tripartite Pact for DRDO’s AMCA Programme
In a significant step toward India’s defence indigenization drive, Goodluck India Ltd, a major special steel manufacturer, has entered a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BrahMos Aerospace Thiruvananthapuram Ltd (BATL) and Axiscades Technologies.
The collaboration aims to jointly bid for the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) ambitious Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project — India’s fifth-generation stealth fighter initiative.
The AMCA is envisioned as a next-generation aircraft with stealth capabilities, super-cruise speed, advanced avionics, internal weapon bays, and cutting-edge electronic warfare systems.
In a related development, Goodluck Defence & Aerospace Limited, a subsidiary of Goodluck India, has received an industrial licence under the Indian Arms Act, 1959, to manufacture medium-calibre artillery shells. The company operates six manufacturing plants across Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat with a combined annual capacity of 5 lakh metric tonnes.
IAF Chief Reveals Pakistan’s Losses During Operation Sindoor
Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, disclosed detailed information regarding Pakistan’s losses during Operation Sindoor, conducted earlier this year in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
He stated that Indian precision strikes had targeted multiple terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). According to intelligence assessments, Pakistan suffered the loss of a C-130 transport aircraft, four to five F-16 fighter jets, and one surface-to-air missile system, among other assets.
The IAF Chief noted that Indian forces also neutralized an AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft during long-range strike operations exceeding 300 km. He highlighted the coordinated efforts of all three services, emphasizing India’s growing capability to conduct sustained precision operations in complex security environments.
Army Chief Warns Pakistan: “Sindoor 2.0 Will Be Unrestrained”
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a stern warning to Pakistan, asserting that India will not exhibit the same restraint in “Operation Sindoor 2.0” as it did during the earlier phase.
During his visit to the Bikaner Military Station and other forward areas, General Dwivedi reviewed operational readiness and reiterated that continued state-sponsored terrorism by Pakistan would invite a stronger response.
He cautioned, “If Pakistan wants to remain on the map, it must abandon terrorism. India is fully prepared, and this time, our response will be decisive.”
The Army Chief also emphasized the need for integrated efforts across the military, industry, academia, and civil sectors, advocating a “Whole-of-Nation” approach to national defence preparedness.
Nigeria Nears Deal to Procure Four HAL Prachand Combat Helicopters
Nigeria is reportedly on the verge of signing a contract with India for the purchase of four HAL Prachand (Light Combat Helicopters) under a soft credit line extended by the Indian government.
This prospective agreement marks a major milestone for India’s indigenous helicopter programme and is expected to become the first-ever export of Indian combat helicopters to Africa.
The Prachand, developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), has demonstrated exceptional performance in high-altitude operations. Equipped with advanced avionics, precision targeting systems, and robust weapon integration, it is well-suited for Nigeria’s counter-insurgency missions and diverse geographic conditions — ranging from the northern deserts to southern riverine regions.
For India, the deal represents both a strategic and commercial breakthrough in defence exports, strengthening bilateral ties with Nigeria and expanding India’s footprint in the African defence market.
