Exercise Maru Jwala: Showcasing Joint Combat Readiness
The Indian Army’s Southern Command successfully conducted ‘Exercise Maru Jwala’ in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, as part of the ongoing tri-services exercise ‘Trishul’. The drill demonstrated the high level of preparedness, coordination, and operational capability of the Army’s elite formations.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, highlighted that Exercise Maru Jwala formed the final and most crucial phase of the larger Trishul operations, which had been ongoing for nearly two months. During this period, the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, a major strike formation of the Southern Command, underwent intensive training to enhance joint combat effectiveness.
The broader Tri-Services Exercise (TSE-2025) “Trishul”, led by the Indian Navy in coordination with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, is scheduled to take place in November 2025. The Headquarters Western Naval Command is overseeing the operation, which will involve large-scale joint maneuvers across the creek and desert sectors of Rajasthan and Gujarat, along with amphibious and maritime missions in the northern Arabian Sea.
The key participating formations include the Army’s Southern Command, Western Naval Command, and South Western Air Command. The Indian Coast Guard, Border Security Force (BSF), and various central agencies are also taking part, reinforcing inter-agency collaboration and integrated operational synergy.
