US Approves Sale of Excalibur Projectiles and Javelin Missiles to India
In a major boost to India–US defence cooperation, Washington has cleared the sale of M982A1 Excalibur precision-guided projectiles and FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems. The combined deal, valued at around $93 million, includes Excalibur rounds worth $47.1 million and Javelin systems estimated at $45.7 million.
India has requested 216 Excalibur tactical projectiles, manufactured by RTX Corporation in Virginia. The agreement for Javelin systems includes 100 missile rounds, one fly-to-buy missile, and 25 launch units, enhancing India’s precision strike and anti-armour capabilities. These acquisitions aim to support India’s tactical readiness in varied conflict zones.
Bangladesh NSA Meets Ajit Doval Amid Diplomatic Strain
Bangladesh’s National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman met India’s NSA Ajit Doval in New Delhi ahead of the seventh Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) meeting. The interaction holds significance as it marks the first major security-level engagement since the political turmoil in Bangladesh following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in 2024.
Both sides reviewed CSC cooperation and discussed bilateral security concerns. Rahman also extended an invitation to Doval to visit Bangladesh. The meeting comes at a time when Bangladesh’s internal situation remains tense after a local tribunal sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to death on charges related to the 2024 uprising.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Clears 16 Strategic Defence and Infrastructure Projects
Ladakh LG Kavinder Gupta approved 16 key projects proposed by the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation, and Power Development Department. These projects, located within the ecologically sensitive Karakoram and Changthang wildlife sanctuaries, aim to bolster infrastructure and logistical support in the high-altitude region.
While granting approvals, the LG stressed strict compliance with ecological guidelines, highlighting the need to balance national security with conservation. All projects will follow recommendations from the Biological Impact Assessment Report to safeguard Ladakh’s fragile wildlife and landscape.
Indian Army Gains IPR for Newly Designed Digital Print Coat Combat
The Indian Army has secured intellectual property rights for its newly developed digital print coat combat, a modern three-layered uniform designed by NIFT Delhi under the supervision of the Army Design Bureau. Introduced in January 2025, the uniform represents a significant step in the Army’s modernisation path.
The ensemble consists of:
- Outer layer: Digitally-printed camouflage for durability and concealment.
- Inner jacket: Lightweight, insulated mid-layer offering warmth and flexibility.
- Thermal base layer: Regulates body temperature and manages moisture in extreme climates.
Its ergonomic design, advanced textiles, and climate-appropriate layering make it suitable for diverse theatres of operation.
L&T to Manufacture BvS10 Sindhu All-Terrain Armoured Vehicle
Larsen & Toubro, in collaboration with BAE Systems, will produce the BvS10 Sindhu, a specialised all-terrain armoured vehicle, at the company’s Hazira manufacturing facility. The variant is an upgraded version of the proven BvS10 platform and has been customised for India’s operational conditions including high-altitude regions, deserts, marshlands, and amphibious zones.
The vehicle features an articulated design that allows exceptional mobility across snow, ice, rocky terrain, muddy stretches, and steep gradients. The contract also includes a comprehensive logistics support package covering deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle sustainment.
This initiative significantly enhances India’s capability to operate in extreme and inaccessible geographies.
