GRSE Delivers ASW Shallow Water Craft Anjadip to Indian Navy
Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has achieved another significant milestone by handing over the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) Anjadip to the Indian Navy. Delivered at the Chennai Port Trust, Anjadip is the fifth warship supplied by GRSE in the year and the third vessel in the ASW SWC series of eight ships being constructed for coastal defence operations.
With this delivery, Anjadip becomes the 115th warship constructed by GRSE and the 77th warship delivered to the Indian Navy. The vessel was formally accepted by Rear Admiral Gautam Marwaha, VSM, Chief Staff Officer (Technical), Eastern Naval Command.
Earlier in the year, GRSE had already delivered four warships — the Advanced Guided Missile Frigate Himgiri, ASW SWCs Arnala and Androth, and the Survey Vessel (Large) Ikshak — all of which have since been commissioned into active naval service.
Boost to Atmanirbhar Bharat in Defence
Anjadip reflects India’s growing emphasis on self-reliance in defence manufacturing. The ship is equipped with an indigenously developed 30 mm Naval Surface Gun, produced by GRSE itself, and features nearly 88 percent indigenous content. This marks a strong step forward in reducing dependence on foreign defence imports.
Powered by three water jets coupled with marine diesel engines, the vessel offers excellent manoeuvrability. Its shallow draught of just 2.7 metres allows it to operate close to coastlines, making it highly effective in detecting and neutralising underwater threats in littoral waters.
GRSE is currently engaged in the construction of 12 additional warships, including advanced stealth frigates under Project 17A, more ASW SWCs, Survey Vessels (Large), and Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels.
Trump Announces New US Warship Class Named After Himself
In an unusual move, US President Donald Trump announced the creation of a new class of heavily armed naval vessels that will bear his name. Traditionally, such honours are reserved for leaders after they leave office.
Initially, two Trump-class warships are planned, with the possibility of expanding the fleet in the future. Trump described these ships as among the most powerful surface combatants ever built by the United States, claiming they could be the largest battleships in American history.
The proposed vessels are expected to displace 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes and will reportedly be armed with advanced missiles, naval guns, and emerging technologies such as directed-energy weapons and hypersonic systems. Trump also stated that the ships could potentially carry nuclear-armed sea-launched cruise missiles.
When questioned about whether the move was aimed at countering China, Trump downplayed the idea, saying the ships were meant to deter all potential adversaries rather than targeting any specific country.
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Receives Saudi Arabia’s Highest Civilian Honour
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has been awarded Saudi Arabia’s top civilian decoration — the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence during his official visit to the Kingdom.
The honour, approved through a Royal Decree, was conferred in recognition of Munir’s role in strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Saudi leadership highlighted his professionalism and strategic vision, particularly in matters of regional security and cooperation.
The award comes at a time when Munir has been actively engaging in diplomatic outreach across the region, emphasizing shared security interests and long-standing relations between the two countries.
Russia’s Su-57 Conducts First Flight With New-Generation Engine
Russia’s fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft, the Su-57, has successfully completed its first flight using a newly developed engine, marking a major advancement in the programme. The announcement was made by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), a state-owned aerospace firm.
The flight tested the Izdeliye 177 engine, developed in collaboration with the United Engine Corporation under the Rostec group. According to Russian officials, the new engine offers higher thrust, improved efficiency, and enhanced flight performance, paving the way for future upgrades of the aircraft.
Russia claims the Su-57 is the only fifth-generation fighter to have seen combat use, citing its deployment in Syria and Ukraine. Designed for multi-role operations, the aircraft can engage air, ground, and naval targets while operating in challenging weather and heavy electronic warfare environments.
China May Have Loaded Over 100 ICBMs in Missile Silo Fields
A draft Pentagon report has indicated that China may have deployed more than 100 intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) across three major missile silo fields, highlighting the rapid expansion of Beijing’s nuclear capabilities.
According to the report, China is modernising its nuclear forces at a pace faster than any other nuclear-armed nation. The silos are reportedly located near China’s border with Mongolia and are believed to house solid-fuel DF-31 ICBMs.
The assessment suggests that China has shown little interest in engaging in arms control discussions, despite recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about potential denuclearisation talks involving China and Russia. Beijing, however, has dismissed such reports, accusing external powers of misrepresenting its defence policies.
The findings underscore growing global concerns over strategic stability and the future of nuclear arms control in an increasingly competitive geopolitical environment.
