The Indian Army has given Ashok Leyland orders worth Rs 800 crore, including the purchase of speciality vehicles FAT 4×4 and GTV 6×6 for towing light and medium guns. The automobiles will be delivered over the following 12 months.

According to Amandeep Singh, Ashok Leyland’s President for Defence Business, the mobility platforms ranging from 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, 10×10, and 12×12 are indigenously developed and built by Ashok Leyland, which has considerably contributed to import substitution.

Ashok Leyland, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced on Monday that it had received orders from the Indian Army for Rs 800 crore. The contracts also include the purchase of the Field Artillery Tractor (FAT 4×4) and the Gun Towing Vehicle (GTV 6×6), according to Ashok Leyland.

According to the business, the FAT 4×4 and GTV 6×6 are specialised trucks used by the artillery for hauling light and medium weapons, respectively.
