First Batch Of Agniveers Board INS Vikramaditya For Naval Defence Training
- The first batch of Agniveers, including women candidates, boarded the INS Vikramaditya for their training on the vessel. Aboard the INS Vikramaditya, they will prepare mentally and physically for a life at sea.
- INS Vikramaditya is an Indian Navy aircraft carrier that was commissioned in November 2013. Originally built by the Soviet Navy’s Admiral Gorshkov, the ship was extensively refurbished and modernized in Russia before being transferred to India in 2013.
- The first batch of Agniveers under the Indian Navy passed out on March 28. A total of 2,585 Agniveers (first batch), including 272 women, passed out the portals of INS Chilka in Odisha in a first-of-its-kind ceremony.

CDS Visits Forward Areas In North Bengal & HQs Trishakti Corps
- CDS General Anil Chauhan visited Air Force Station and forward areas in North Bengal along with GOC, Trishakti Corps on April 08 & 09, 2023. He reviewed the progress of infrastructure development and operational & logistics preparedness in the area.
- He was briefed on the operational situation along the Northern borders of Sikkim. He commended the formation for ensuring force preservation while also reaching out to assist the civil administration and local population in times of natural disasters like the recent avalanche in East Sikkim.
- The CDS asked the formation to focus on training hard and remaining vigilant at all times. He also emphasised that soldiers must keep themselves abreast with the latest trends in information technology, emerging cyber threats and countermeasures.
Pakistan To Ship 230 Containers Of Defence Items To Ukraine
- Ukraine-Pakistan defence nexus looms large on the horizon even as the Ukrainian deputy foreign minister undertakes a four-day visit to India from Sunday.
- Signalling to deepen defence partnership, Pakistan will ship 230 defence containers this month from the Karachi Port via two vessels MV Bokram and MV Kherson.
- Ukraine and Pakistan share close military and industrial ties. Pakistan had purchased more than 320 Ukrainian T-80UD tanks in service with a fully formed ecosystem for their upkeep, use, ammunition and spare parts.
- Between 1991 and 2020, Ukraine concluded arms contracts worth nearly $1.6 billion with Pakistan. Islamabad has reportedly clinched a deal with Kyiv for the repair of its T-80UD fleet at a cost of $85.6 million.
N. Korea Says Tested Another ‘Underwater Nuclear Attack Drone’
- North Korea claimed it had tested another underwater nuclear attack drone, in its latest response to South Korean and United States military drills, though analysts have questioned whether Pyongyang has such a weapon.
- In recent weeks, North Korea has tested what state media have described as an underwater nuclear-capable drone and also carried out the launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.
- “A national defence science research institute in the DPRK carried out a test of underwater strategic weapon system from April 4 to 7”.
- “The underwater nuclear attack drone ‘Haeil-2’… cruised 1,000 km of simulated underwater distance … for 71 hours and 6 minutes.”
IAF Signed Their First Idex Contract For Procurement Of “Gaggan”
- Giving a major boost to aatmanirbharbharat, IAF signed their first iDEX contract for procurement of “Gaggan” – an extremely high-resolution camera developed by the iDEX winner – DV2JS.
- The camera can be employed in a variety of aerial platforms.
