IAF Chief Applauds 25 Years of LCA TEJAS

India’s indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) TEJAS has completed 25 years since its historic maiden flight on 4 January 2001. This first flight marked a turning point in India’s defence aviation journey, laying the foundation for self-reliant fighter aircraft development. Over the years, TEJAS has matured into a capable frontline aircraft and stands as a symbol of India’s technological progress in aerospace engineering.

The Indian Air Force has inducted 38 TEJAS aircraft, including fighter and trainer variants, across two operational squadrons. This induction has significantly reduced dependence on imported combat aircraft while enhancing operational flexibility and combat readiness. The programme’s success was recently highlighted at a national seminar organised by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA).

Future Roadmap: TEJAS Variants and AMCA

Looking ahead, the IAF leadership has expressed strong confidence in upcoming platforms such as TEJAS Mk-1A, TEJAS Mk-2, and the fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). These projects are expected to deliver superior capabilities and adhere to stricter timelines. Strategic partnerships, including engine collaboration with General Electric, demonstrate how indigenous design combined with global expertise is accelerating India’s defence innovation ecosystem.

Trump asserted American control in the region and invoked the Monroe Doctrine, a historic policy asserting U.S. influence over the Western Hemisphere. He hinted at potential actions involving Colombia and made strong comments about Cuba and Greenland, indicating a hard-line foreign policy stance.

While no detailed strategy was outlined, these statements sparked debate over regional security and the future of U.S. engagement in Latin America and strategic global regions.

Arihant-Class Submarine S4 to Be Named INS Arisudan*

India’s strategic maritime strength continues to grow with the advancement of the Arihant-class nuclear-powered submarines. The fourth submarine in the series, designated S4*, is likely to be commissioned as INS Arisudan, a name reflecting the theme of “destroyer of enemies.”

The submarine was launched in October 2025 and is expected to be commissioned by 2027, further strengthening India’s sea-based nuclear deterrence. Meanwhile, INS Aridhaman, the third submarine of the class, is approaching induction after extensive sea trials. With enhanced reactors, improved stealth, and greater missile capacity, these platforms form a critical pillar of India’s nuclear triad.
