Rajnath Singh Holds Talks With Italian Defence Minister

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh held talks with Italian Defence Minister Mr Guido Crosetto in Rome on October 09, 2023, on the first leg of his visit to Italy and France. During the meeting, both sides discussed a host of defence cooperation issues, including training, sharing of information, maritime exercises and maritime security.
The two Ministers discussed the complementary capacities of India & Italy in defence and the possibilities of joint development. The Raksha Mantri suggested fostering the interaction of the Indian start-ups with the Italian defence companies.
The meeting was followed by the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of defence. The agreement will promote bilateral cooperation in varied defence domains, such as security and defence policy, R&D, education in military field, maritime domain awareness, sharing of defence information and industrial cooperation, including co-development, co-production & setting up of joint ventures.
The Annual Joint HADR Ex is an outcome of Hon’ble PM’s directive promulgated during Combined Commanders’ Conference-2015. Since its first edition in 2015, the Annual Joint HADR Exercise, CHAKRAVAT, has transformed itself into a multi-agency endeavour involving participation of all three Services, Paramilitary Forces.

First Plane Laden With US Armaments Arrives In Israel

The first plane carrying US armaments landed in southern Israel on Tuesday evening, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said.
As Israel wages war with Hamas, US President Joe Biden’s administration has begun delivering munitions to Israel this week.
“The cooperation between our militaries is a key part of ensuring regional security and stability in times of war,” IDF’s post added.
As the war against Hamas has completed four days, over a thousand Israelis have been killed, more than 2,800 are injured and 50 are confirmed hostage or missing, IDF said.

Amid the onslaught by Israeli forces on Gaza following Hamas attacks, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and provided him an update about the ongoing situation.
“Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour,” PM Modi posted on X.
Israel’s Ambassador to India, Naor Gilon thanked PM Modi for his support. “Thank you again PM @narendramodi-ji. Since we get SO MUCH support from our Indian brothers and sisters, I’m unfortunately unable to thank each and every one of you personally. Please accept this as my gratitude to all our friends.”

6^th Batch Of Military Nursing Service Cadets To Be Commissioned

The sixth batch of BSc (H) Nursing, College of Nursing, Army Hospital (R&R) will be commissioned into the Military Nursing Service on October 12, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The ceremony will be held at Ayurvigyan Auditorium, AH(R&R), Delhi Cantt. Maj Gen Sheena PD Principal Matron, Army Hospital(R&R), Delhi Cantt is scheduled to host the ceremony.
During the ceremony 30 nursing cadets will be commissioned as Lieutenants into the Military Nursing Service and would be posted to various Armed Forces hospitals across the country.

Indian Army’s BrahMos Missile Regiment Test Extended Range BrahMos Missile

As per sources, In a significant achievement, the BrahMos Missile Regiment of the Indian Army conducted a highly successful launch of the extended-range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
The missile demonstrated its prowess by striking its intended target with pinpoint accuracy in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This remarkable event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Devendra Kumar Joshi, and the GOC-in-C of Southern Command, Pune.
India has also developed an air-launched version named BrahMos-A, which is half a tonne lighter at 2.5 tonnes compared to the ground and ship-launched variant, weighing 3 tonnes.
Another lighter and faster variant of the missile, namely, the BrahMos-NG missile, is under development and can also be carried by Tejas Mk-1A fighter jets.
