Exercise Cyber Suraksha – 2024

  • CDS Gen Anil Chauhan attended ‘Exercise Cyber Suraksha – 2024’, on May 22, 2024, and underscored the importance of strengthening India’s cyber defence capabilities.
  • The comprehensive cyber defence exercise is being conducted by Defence Cyber Agency from 20 – 24 May 2024. It aims to further develop Cyber Defence Capability of all Cyber security organisations and promote synergy amongst all stakeholders.
  • Exercise Cyber Suraksha – 2024 aims to empower participants by enhancing their cyber defence skills, techniques and capabilities; share best practices, and work towards a unified and robust cyber defence posture. It will promote jointmanship and synergy in planning and preparation of a a Cyber Defence Framework. The event reaffirms the commitment of the Indian Armed Forces to safeguarding national security in the increasingly important cyber domain.

COAS Inaugurates First- Ever Emergency Medical Response System

  • In order to provide expert guidance and definitive care during medical emergencies of serving personnel and their families of the IAF across the nation, an Emergency Medical Response System was inaugurated by Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari at Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore on 21 May 2024.
  • The EMRS is a first of its kind 24/7 telephonic medical helpline for serving IAF personnel and their families across India. The system aims to provide prompt response by a team of medical and paramedical professionals to the caller experiencing the emergency anywhere across the country.

ICG Takes Preparatory Measures In View Of Cyclone Storm ‘Remal’

  • ICG has initiated comprehensive preparatory measures to ensure minimal loss of life and property at sea due to Cyclonic Storm ‘Remal’ originating in the central Bay of Bengal.
  • It is expected to intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by May 25, 2024. The system is likely to make landfall at North/ North-West Bay of Bengal near West Bengal Coast on the intervening night of May 26 & 27.
  • The ICG’s Remote Operating Stations at Haldia and Paradip are broadcasting regular and multilingual Very High Frequency alerts, advising transit merchant mariners to take necessary precautions. ICG ships and aircraft are conducting surveillance along the projected path of the cyclonic storm to provide timely assistance and support.

Army Chief Reviews Passing Out Parade At NDA In Pune

  • The Chief of Army staff, General Manoj Pande reviewed the Passing out Parade (POP) of the 146th course – the Spring Term of 2024 – of the National Defence Academy (NDA), on Tuesday.
  • A total of 205 cadets were conferred the prestigious bachelor’s degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University at the 146th convocation ceremony of the National Defence Academy held at the Habibullah Hall in  Pune.
  • A total of 82 cadets were conferred degrees in the science stream, 84 cadets in the computer science stream and 39 cadets in the arts stream. 17 cadets from friendly foreign countries were also awarded degrees during the convocation ceremony.

US Sends $275 Mn Of Weapons And Military Aid To Ukraine

  • The United States on Friday announced a fresh tranche of military aid for Ukraine, including ammunition, missiles, mines and artillery rounds as Russia presses its assault on the Kharkiv region.
  • Ukraine has been battling back in Kharkiv since May 10, when thousands of Moscow’s troops stormed the border, making their biggest territorial advances in 18 months.
  • Last month, US lawmakers passed a long-delayed $61 billion military aid deal for Kyiv after months of squabbling in Congress as Ukrainian forces suffered setbacks on the battlefield due to ammunition and funding shortages.

Indian Navy Warships Complete Manila Visit

  • Indian Navy ships INS Delhi, INS Shakti and INS Kiltan completed their visit to Manila, Philippines as part of the Operational Deployment of the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet to the South China Sea.
  • The port call included Subject Matter Expert Exchange between the Indian Navy and personnel of the Philippines Navy, sports fixtures, cross-deck visits, cultural exchanges and collaborative community outreach programmes.
  • China has claimed almost the entire South China Sea rejecting claims from other nations, including the Philippines, and an international ruling that states that these claims have no legal basis.
