A memorandum of agreement for the production of Al Tariq precision-guided weaponry in India has been signed between Bharat Dynamics Ltd in India and AL TARIQ in the United Arab Emirates.
The AL-Tariq Munition Deal
The arrangement was struck during the Aero India 2023 exhibition earlier this month, according to AL TARIQ, a member of the Edge group. The Al Tariq line of all-weather, day/night, long-range precision-guided munition (LR-PGM) kits will be produced by the two businesses together in India.

CEO of AL TARIQ Theunis Botha stated: “We are incredibly happy to be working with Bharat Dynamics, a reputable producer of cutting-edge weapon systems for the Indian Air Force. The MoU serves as an example of AL TARIQ and Bharat Dynamics’ desire and intent to work together and find chances to jointly build the AL TARIQ LR-PGM in India. Additionally, it will allow us to comply with the ‘Made in India’ directive of the Indian government and the needs of the Indian Air Force.
“Our relationship with AL TARIQ, a producer of superb, mission-proven precision-guided munition kits, constitutes a major addition to our precision strike portfolio,” stated Commodore A Madhava Rao (Retd), Director (Technical) of BDL. According to the MoU, Indian versions of AL TARIQ’s LR-PGMs will be created and manufactured at our cutting-edge facilities, enhancing our selection of precision-guided munition with modular, cutting-edge long-range capabilities.
Furthermore, during Aero India, AL TARIQ and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) signed a memorandum of understanding to investigate the viability of integrating AL TARIQ’s range of LR-PGMs onto HAL platforms.
Al-Tariq Munitions and Precision guided Missiles
For the 250 lb, 500 lb, and 1000 lb MK-81, MK-82, and MK-83 aerial bombs, Al Tariq is a modular family of precision-guided weapons that offers lengthy stand-off ranges of more than 120 km and a variety of seeker options. For aircraft that need either MIL-STD-1760 or DIGIBUS interfacing, the system offers a wireless integration option or a digital solution. The Al Tariq-LR variant features fold-out wings for a range of 120 km, compared to the standard Al Tariq kit’s range of up to 40 km.

The present MK-81 and MK-82 kits are being produced while the wing MK-83 version is being qualified through flight trials, with production beginning in the second quarter of 2023.
