The Indian Navy has built ‘Rakshak’ as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, an indigenous facility that will allow submarine crews to be trained for damage control under tough, realistic conditions that the force may experience on board.
‘Rakshak’ is a main damage control and fire fighting training facility which is a unique facility established for gaining submarines in damage control. Two simulators and a fire fighting simulator are available at the damage control facility, the damage control simulator is primarily designed to replicate various flooding scenarios in a limited setting. The firefighting simulator is intended to train personnel to fight fires on submarines in a realistic environment, particularly in difficult confined spaces.
Defence Weapons Developed as Part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission
Under PM Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission, the country has accomplished a remarkable feat by exceeding Rs 13000 crore in defence exports for the first time. The 155-millimeter, 52-calibre Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System, or ATAGS, which the DRDO has developed in partnership with Indian organizations, may appear to be an indigenous milestone.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed various new weapon systems that are currently critical components of the India Pavilion. The defence sector created weapons such as the Mounted Gun System (MGS), a 25-tonne light tank, a drone kill system, and an infantry training weapon simulator as part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Aatmanirbhar Bharat Mission
Prime Minister Modi announced the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan program in May 2020. The government’s goal with this objective is to make India self-sufficient in all respects. The economy, infrastructure, system, vibrant demography, and demand are the five fundamental pillars of a self-sufficient India. In May 2020, the Centre also announced a Rs 2,000,000 crore (US$ 262 billion) plan for giving policy and financial support to India’s MSMEs and cottage industries, equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP. The government intends to adopt several reforms for the country’s growth under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
