PIQ form is very important because it has crucial information about the candidates that are used by the Interviewer and the psychologist to form an overall image of the candidate. Most of the personal interview questions in the SSB interview are related to what you have written in your PIQ form. So do fill it out properly and do not write something which you might not be aware of, it may create a problem for you in the Interview. The basic PIQ form is of two pages, it includes questions related to your academics, relatives, self and other miscellaneous questions. Candidate must keep full attention while filling this form, write legible and to the point, and do not overwrite and exaggerate personal information.

The PIQ form is usually filled on the arriving day or Day 1 i.e. after the screening test. Some of the candidates are smart and usually practice filling out a PIQ form before coming to the SSB centre which avoids a lot of confusion at the very moment of filling it out. The candidates who don’t practice filling it out before usually are confused and sometimes overwrite or cut or fill incorrect information that leads to a bad impression on the IO and Psychologist.

How To Fill A PIQ Form Correctly?

Let’s talk about some points where I will tell you to keep the necessary information with you so that you don’t face any kind of problem while filling out the PIQ form at the centre:

• The first and foremost thing that many candidates do is not remember their roll no. or application no. whether it’s NDA, CDSE or any tech entry. Write it down and memorise it correctly as it is required to be told by the candidate many times during his/her span at the centre and is required to fill up a number of forms during documentation. You can simply write it down with a pencil on the back of any paper for further reference.

• Chest number, batch number and Selection board number allotted to you should be noted down immediately as you will be required to use them again and again in many forms during the documentation, psyche testing, GTO testing etc. Keep them in your mind and memorise them thoroughly.

• The candidate should remember and be aware of some specifics such as population, geographical features, and political posts of his/her city of maximum residence, permanent residence and current residence.

• Basic personal information related to your family members such as their age, education, income and occupation should be clear as day in your mind. Not only this will be asked in the Interview but it is required to be noted down in your PIQ form too. It is better to ask them in advance before coming for the SSB.

• Self-knowledge about schooling and college education and other specific particulars such as their respective board affiliations, the medium of education and any outstanding achievement during that tenure must be stated by the candidate.

• Your exact age in years and months, height and weight in CMs and KGs respectively. If you don’t know about your basic medical particulars then it is advisable to go to the nearest clinic and be done with them.

• Present occupation of the candidate, if any and its respective salary in rupees. You can write down about any part-time job that you are doing too such as home tutor, content creator or any other work through that you generate any considerable income.

• All the details pertaining to the NCC, if any.

• Your participation in sports, duration during which you participated, representation level (school or college, district, national etc.), and outstanding achievements related to them (In chronological order based on your priority and most recent times if you have many of them and they all can’t be managed in that given space).

• Hobbies and interests that you pursue in your spare time should be stated correctly. Try to find out about them through in-depth self-exploration.

• Participation in extracurricular activities in school or college, duration and achievements (In chronological order based on your priority and most recent times if you have many of them and they all can’t be managed in that given space).

• Position of responsibilities that you held in your school or college such as house captain, sports team captain, NCC rank etc.

• You must be aware of the nature of the commission that you have opted for the particular entry such as Short Service Commission or Permanent Commission. You must know the arm that you have applied for such as Army, Navy or Airforce.

• The last column expects the candidates to fill in the details regarding their previous SSBs if any. They must fill in the type of entry, place and SSB No., the date on which they attended SSBs, batch and chest no of that entry and the outcome of that SSB.

• Remember, it is very important to be aware of all of this information as they will be required to be filled down by the candidate and you can’t afford to be confused about them at that time.

• There should be absolute clarity regarding the above-mentioned things and one should prepare and verify this information before filling them in the PIQ form.
