Indian Navy Agniveers

The Agnipath Scheme was launched on June 14, 2022, by the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri and the three Service Chiefs. In line with the GoI initiative for a pan-India merit-based Agnipath recruitment scheme, the Indian Navy oriented its selection, training, and deployment methodology to lay the groundwork for a modern, dynamic, younger, and technically equipped future-ready force. The Navy took advantage of this opportunity to begin the entry of Women Agniveers; as a result, nearly 2600 Agniveers, including 273 women Agniveers, were inducted into the Indian Navy and began their training at INS Chilka in November 2022.
