Thematic Apperception Test in SSB consists of a set of ambiguous pictures that will be shown to the candidate, while looking at these pictures candidates must create a theme like a story that requires a hero and a challenge, how the hero will overcome the crisis and succeed.
In TAT a candidate will be asked to write a story on his own based on the images shown. A candidate shouldn’t just use his memory blocks and start preparing a story, he/she needs to see that in every third or fourth line there are different meanings coming, try interpretation and analyze those meanings in the third person because that meaning shows the candidate’s state of mind.

Rahul and Neeraj were students of St Joseph Public School Chennai. They were studying in 7th standard. They were great friends and had a very deep understanding with respect to each other. Both Rahul and Neeraj were into soccer but Rahul had an interest in the keyboard. Hence, he used to go for music classes. Neeraj was very helpful person and at times supported Rahul by doing his part of the homework. One fine day, the professor called upon both Neeraj and Rahul. The assignment including some English Grammar exercise where sentences were required to make. The professor asked for explanation seeking reasons why all the sentences were appearing the same and from a similar font of handwriting. Neeraj was taken aback by getting caught. Both Rahul and Neeraj understood their mistake. Further when they explained to the professor, the professor guided them in the right way and gave them a very wonderful lecture on time management. He asked both of them to pursue as many activities as possible as it would groom their personality. At the same time, they were advised to keep academics at an important place. Neeraj and Rahul take it as a very sporty lesson and make the changes in the routine. After that day they first complete the school assignments after returning to home and then pursue their set of activities.

Savitha is an Associate professor in Mullana University, Punjab. Apart from her teaching profession, she is a daughter to a family of service class people. Her father works in the Life Insurance Corporation as Development officer and mother is a home maker. Savitha as a woman carried herself great in all aspects which included sports, monitoring activities, cultural activities etc. From her school life to a disciplined teacher and an enthusiastic motivator. She was very well sought for in the locality as a living example who was preparing for her own career as well as supporting the family in an honorable profession. The lady actively participates towards guiding students for any kind of fests and becomes a volunteer as well. She is seen in this picture in the library along with other characters. She is simultaneously preparing for the NABARD examinations as agriculture is one of her areas of work interest. In her free time, she prepares for the examination. The college dean is very supportive towards all its staff who are looking forward in their careers towards the government sector. The year 2017, Savitha cleared the NABARD Grade A manager examination and it was a matter of pride for the college and her family.
