During a recent Retiring Officers Seminar in New Delhi, Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, honored two remarkable veterans with the prestigious Veteran Achievers Award, recognizing their outstanding contributions to both the nation and society after their military careers.
Colonel Kashmir Singh Dhillon (Retd) has been a staunch advocate for the welfare of veterans, Veernaris, and the next of kin (NoK). He established a helpline in Makhu, Ferozpur, aimed at addressing grievances faced by veterans and their families. Furthermore, he runs a Motivation Centre dedicated to guiding and assisting the youth interested in joining the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), or state police. Through these efforts, he fosters a generation of disciplined individuals committed to serving their country.
On the other hand, Havildar Chhewang Stanzin (Retd) has turned his focus towards sustainable development in the Ladakh region. He has launched an entrepreneurial venture that specializes in constructing Passive Solar Buildings, which contributes to environmental sustainability and supports the transition to green energy. His projects include the development of eco-friendly buildings, such as hostels for children and religious structures, thereby ensuring sustainable infrastructure while maintaining the ecological balance of the region.
General Upendra Dwivedi commended the leadership and dedication of the awardees, underscoring the notion that service to the nation is a lifelong commitment that extends beyond retirement into new forms of involvement. He reiterated the Army’s promise to support veterans who continue to make significant contributions to society in various capacities.
The Veteran Achievers Award serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of former soldiers, who remain committed to the ideals of nation-building and community welfare long after their active service. Their inspiring initiatives are a beacon for future generations, embodying the core values of service, discipline, and patriotism.
