The 422.9-metre Devak bridge on the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur Road in the Samba district is one of the newly launched constructions with strategic relevance for the armed forces. According to a BRO spokeswoman, it will assist the speedy deployment of troops, heavy equipment, and mechanised vehicles to advanced locations while also contributing to the region’s socioeconomic growth.
The massive BRO activities span 10 border states and Union Territories in the northern and north-eastern regions, including 22 highways, 63 bridges, one tunnel, two airstrips, and two helipads. These projects were completed in record time and amid difficult weather circumstances in some of the most inhospitable terrains, all while utilising cutting-edge technology.
