World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

  • World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is dedicated to highlighting the issue of elder abuse. This day came into existence in June 2006 when a request was established to declare June 15 a special day for elders. But it was the year 2011 when the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was officially recognized by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
  • This proposition came into the picture after the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) requested to first establish the commemoration in June 2006.
  • The principal goal of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is to provide our communities around the world with an opportunity to get a better knowledge of the abuse and neglect of older people. This is a global social issue that not only affects the health of older people but also diminishes their rights.

10 Lakh Recruitments In Next 1.5 Years

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed the status of Human Resources in all Departments and Ministries.
  • The Prime Minister’s Office said, Mr Modi has instructed that recruitment of ten lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in next one and half years.

Jagatguru Sreesant Tukaram Maharaj Shila Mandir

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated to the nation the Shila Mandir – a rock temple in honour of the 17th century saint,  Sant Tukaram at Dehu near Pune in Maharashtra. He also interacted with Warkaris, the devotees of Sant Tukaram who undertake the Wari or holy pilgrimage to Pandharpur.
  • Built with a special type of Rajasthani stone, Shila Mandir is a temple dedicated to a slab of stone on which Sant Tukaram had meditated for 13 days. Devotees of Tukaram, the Warkaris, offer prayers at the Shila Temple before starting their pilgrimage to Pandharpur.
  • A new idol of Sant Tukaram has also been installed in the temple near the ‘Shila Mandir’ which was also unveiled by the Prime Minister.
  • The 17th century Bhakti poet and saint Tukaram was famous for his devotional poetry known as Abhangas and spiritual songs known as Kirtanas. His works are central to the Warkari sect in Maharastra. Dehu, on the banks of the Indrayani River is the birth place of the poet saint.

First Type Certificate Under Drone Rules Awarded

  • Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today awarded the first Type Certificate under Drone Rules to IoTech World Avigation Private Limited in New Delhi. This company is one of India’s leading manufacturers of Kisan drones. 
  • On this occasion, Mr. Scindia said, India has set a target to become a drone hub by 2030 and issuing of Type Certificate in record 34 days is a step in that direction. He said, this is an example of Minimum Government and Maximum Governance.
  • IoTech has received the Type Certificate in 34 days after submission of its online application on the DGCA’s Digital Sky Platform in last month. The Drone Certification Scheme will create an eco-system for manufacturing of world class drones in India. There are 14 drone prototypes that are currently undergoing the certification tests. The number of Type Certified prototypes may exceed the figure of 100 over the next three years.

Sant Kabir Das Jayanti

  • Kabir Das (1398 – 1518 AD) was a 15th-century Indian mystic poet and saint, whose writings influenced Hinduism’s Bhakti movement, and his verses are found in Sikhism’s scripture Guru Granth Sahib, Satguru Granth Sahib of Saint Garib Das and Kabir Sagar.
  • Born in the city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, he is known for being critical of both organized religion and religions. He questioned meaningless and unethical practices of all religions primarily the wrong practices in Hindu and Muslim religions.
  • During his lifetime, he was threatened by both Hindus and Muslims for his views. When he died, both Hindus and Muslims he had inspired claimed him as theirs.

Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana

  • Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda has said that the government has started a scheme, ” Pradhan Mantri Aadi Adarsh Gram Yojana” for faster development of tribal villages.
  • the focus of the scheme is on converging different programs of 41 ministries in the tribal villages to ensure their all-around development.
  • Aspirational district’s program Mr. Munda said the very aim of the program is to turn the focus on such remote and backward villages of the country which are lagging due to lack of attention.
  • Efforts are also being made to ensure the geo-tagging of and market linkages for the tribal products through TRIFED. 

“Start-Ups for Railways” Launched

  • Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has launched “Start-Ups for Railways” in New.
  • This Start-Ups policy aims to leverage innovative technologies developed by Indian Startups, MSMEs, Innovators and Entrepreneurs to improve operational efficiency and safety of Indian Railways.
  • The policy which is part Indian Railways Innovation Programme, will bring scale and efficiency in the field of operation, maintenance and infrastructure creation through participation of very large and untapped startup ecosystem.
  • Speaking on the occasion, Mr Vaishnaw said, through this platform, start-ups will get a good opportunity to connect with Railways.
  • He said, out of over 100 problem statements received from different divisions, field offices or zones of Railways, 11 problem statements like rail fracture and headway reduction have been taken up for phase 1 of this programme. The Minister said, these will be presented before the start ups to find innovative solutions.
  • He requested the startups to use this opportunity and ensured them of support from Railways in form of 50 percent capital grant, assured market, scale and ecosystem.

Neeraj Chopra To Return At Paavo Nurmi Games 2022

  • Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra settles for a Silver Medal with a New National Record Throw of 89.30m at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland.
  • The Indian javelin superstar has not competed since winning his historic gold medal at Tokyo 2020.
  • The Paavo Nurmi Games, a gold event in the World Athletics Continental Tour, is one of the biggest track-and-field competitions outside the Diamond League and this year’s event has a super stacked field. Chopra, the only Indian competing at the Paavo Nurmi Games, will look to ease himself back in form heading into next month’s World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games.
  • After Turku, Neeraj Chopra will compete at the Kuortane Games in Finland before heading to Sweden for the Stockholm leg of the Diamond League.
