Chandrayaan-3 Is Scheduled For Launch In August

  • Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has said that Chandrayaan-3 is scheduled for launch in August this year. In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Dr Singh said that based on the learnings from Chandrayaan-2 and suggestions made by the national level experts, the realization of Chandrayaan-3 is in progress. He said, much-related hardware and their special tests are successfully completed, and its launch is scheduled for August 2022.
  • The Minister informed that the number of missions planned during 2022 is 19. They include eight  Launch Vehicle Missions, seven Spacecraft Missions, and four Technology Demonstrator Missions. Dr Singh also informed that several ongoing missions were impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and also, reprioritization of projects has taken place in the backdrop of Space Sector reforms and newly introduced demand-driven models.

One Common Service Centre To Be Established In Each Of 2.50 Lakh Gram Panchayats Across Country

  • Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrashekhar has told Lok Sabha that at least one Common Service Centre will be established in each of the 2.50 lakh Gram Panchayats across the country. In a written reply, he said, it will help in the delivery of various government-to-citizen and other citizen-centric e-Services.
  • He said, his ministry has implemented the network of Common Services Centres (CSC) under the Digital Indian program.
  • He further said, as of December 2021, a total of 4 lakh 46 thousand 789 Common Services Centres are functional across all states and union territories of the country, out of which a total of 3 lakh 48 thousand 391 CSCs are functional at Gram Panchayat level.

Neeraj Chopra Nominated For Laureus World Breakthrough Of The Year Award

  • Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards. India’s first-ever winner of an Olympic athletics gold medal, Neeraj has been selected as one of the six nominees for the 2022 Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award.
  • 24-year-old javelin thrower is only the third Indian to be nominated for the award after wrestler Vinesh Phogat in 2019 and cricket star Sachin Tendulkar, who won the Laureus Sporting Moment Award 2000-2020.

Centre Issues Simplified Procedure To Install Rooftop Solar Plant For Residential Consumers

  • Centre has issued simplified procedure to install rooftop solar plant for the residential consumers. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy said, a national portal for registering applications from the beneficiary and tracking progress will be developed. The household beneficiary, who wished to install Rooftop Solar under the new mechanism will have to apply on the national portal. The beneficiary will be required to submit necessary information including details of bank account where the subsidy amount will be transferred. The application will be forwarded online to the concerned DISCOM for issuance of technical feasibility approval within next 15 working days. It said, the beneficiary has to install its plant within a specified period otherwise his application will be cancelled.  
  • The Ministry said that the national portal will be developed in about six to eight weeks. Till the national portal comes into operation, the existing procedure for availing subsidy for installation of rooftop solar plant through DISCOMs will continue.

1000TH Trip Of Kisan Rail Flagged Off

  • The train from Savda to Adarsh Nagar Delhi had 23 coaches in which 453 tons of bananas were transported. So far, 3.45 lacs farm produce has been transported in 1000th Kisan Rail from Central Railway.
  • Kisan Rail was launched on August 7, 2020, to transport fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers to markets across India.
