DRDO Hands Over Sigma 4.0 to the Indian Army
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has transferred a major technological upgrade to the Corps of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune. The package includes the Camouflage Pattern Generation Software Sigma 4.0 (CPGS 4.0) and a full-scale multispectral signature tank mock-up.
This new system is designed to improve the Army’s training in camouflage and deception techniques, skills that are vital for survival in the rapidly evolving battlefield environment. Sigma 4.0 marks a significant improvement over earlier software versions. It uses advanced algorithms to recreate diverse operational scenarios across several spectral domains—including visible, infrared, and radar ranges.
The system’s multispectral design helps personnel understand how different paints, fabrics, and cover materials affect a tank’s visibility to modern surveillance sensors. The mock-up enables soldiers to test and refine camouflage patterns hands-on, ensuring real-time learning and practical adaptation to varying environments.
BSS Advance Technologies Unveils TRIYAM: India’s Autonomous Weapons Breakthrough
In a major leap for indigenous defence technology, Delhi-based BSS Advance Technologies has introduced TRIYAM, a 3D Lethal Autonomous Weapons System (LAWS). This innovation positions India among a select group of nations—such as the United States, Russia, China, Israel, Japan, and Australia—that are developing sophisticated autonomous weapon platforms.
Developed with active support from the Indian Army, TRIYAM integrates advanced technologies like artificial intelligence, deep learning, convolutional neural networks, swarm robotics, and multi-sensor electro-optics fusion. These capabilities allow the system to autonomously detect, classify, track, and neutralise targets with high accuracy.
TRIYAM is compatible with small arms and light weapons up to 12.7 mm calibre, and initial internal trials have already been completed under Army supervision. The platform is currently undergoing upgrades for enhanced ruggedness and will soon face formal field trials. A defining feature of TRIYAM is its encrypted peer-to-peer swarm architecture, which enables coordinated missions by multiple units in challenging terrains.
CRPF Evaluates Dedicated Troop Convoy Train for J&K
To enhance the security and efficiency of troop movement, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is considering the introduction of a dedicated troop convoy train between Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir. The concept mirrors India’s existing Armed Convoy System (ACS), but is tailored to the realities of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) corridor.
