Work In Synergy To Provide Better Security Environment To People: J-K DGP to Officials    

  • Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Sunday visited the Poonch and Rajouri districts and held a security review meeting with the officials of police and army. 
  • DGP Dilbag Singh chaired review meetings at Brigade Headquarters at Mendhar, Poonch and at Kalakote in Rajouri. DGP took stock of the infiltration attempts, narco trade and drone activities from across the border.
  • The top police official also directed the officials to strengthen the security grid by activating Naka checking points on different routes to keep a check on terror activities. He also stressed strengthening the area domination Plan.
  • “DGP Dilbagh Singh emphasized utilizing modern technology and human intelligence to monitor the movement on borders and also in the hinterland to prevent anti-national activities and incidents thereof,” an official statement issued by J-K police read. 
  • Appreciating the joint efforts of Police and other security forces, the DGP impressed upon the officers to work in synergy to provide a better security environment to the people, especially to the people living in difficult terrains of Rajouri and Poonch areas.

Indian Army, IAF Contingent With Integrated Combat Troops Arrive In Alexandria for Ex Bright Star-23

  • Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent with Integrated Combat troops have arrived at Alexandria for Exercise Bright Star-23 on August 29. The opening ceremony was held on August 31.
  • The Indian contingent of 550 personnel is among the largest Indian deployments for an overseas exercise, the Indian Embassy in Egypt said.
  • Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the Indian Embassy in Egypt stated, “Indian Army and IAF contingent with Integrated Combat troops arrived at Alexandria on Aug 29, 2023 for #ExBrightStar 23. The opening ceremony was held on August 31. The overall Indian contingent of 550 personnel is among the largest Indian deployments for an overseas Exercise.”
  • On August 29, the Indian Army contingent comprising 137 personnel departed for Exercise Bright Star-23, the Ministry of Defence said in an earlier press release. The Indian Army is being represented by a contingent from 23 JAT Battalion.
  • The exercise which began on August 31 will culminate on September 13 at Mohammed Naguib Military Base in Egypt.

Maj Gen Ignatius Delos Flora takes charge as Additional DG, MNS               

  • Maj Gen Ignatius Delos Flora has taken charge as the Additional Director General of Military Nursing Service (MNS) on 01 Sep 2023. The General Officer is an alumnus of the School of Nursing, Army Hospital Delhi Cantt, now College of Nursing, Army Hospital (R&R).
  • She was commissioned into the MNS in the year 1985 and completed her Midwifery training at Command Hospital Air Force Bangalore in 1986.  Continuing the higher study, she completed her PCBSc Nursing from College of Nursing AFMC Pune in 1995.
  • During her illustrious career of 38 years, the General Officer has held various key appointments in the Armed Forces Medical Services hospitals including JDMNS (Trg & HS) Eastern Command, DPM INHS Asvini, Principal Matron AICTS Pune, Brig MNS at HQ Northern Command.

Indian Naval Ship ‘Delhi’ Arrives At Colombo Port    

  • The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Delhi’ arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit on Friday, the Sri Lankan Navy said, ahead of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to the island nation.
  • The 163.2 metre-long Destroyer was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval tradition.
  • The ship’s Commanding Officer called on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva, at the Western Naval Command Headquarters early on Friday.
